VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. SimLeague� Hockey is a skill game of hockey management that offers participants the
ability to play in two types of leagues: (1) Full-Season Leagues (comprised of 24 teams each) at a cost of
US $9.95 per team, the winners of which will receive a prize (each, a "Contest"); and (2) Exhibition Leagues
(comprised of 6 teams each) at no cost, with no prize. Details on how to play SimLeague Hockey are set forth
in the SimLeague Hockey Game Rules (the "Hockey Rules"), which are incorporated as part of these Official Rules.

ELIGIBILITY. SimLeague Hockey is open to legal
residents of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and Canada (excluding
Ineligible Locations (defined below)) who have reached the age of majority in
their country, state, province or territory and had a valid e-mail account prior
to the Start Date (as defined in paragraph 2 below), who are located in the
United States (excluding Puerto Rico) or Canada (excluding Ineligible Locations
(defined below)) at the time of entry. Residents of Arizona, Colorado,
Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, Tennessee, Vermont, and
the province of Quebec (collectively, the "Ineligible Locations") may
participate in a Contest, but are NOT eligible to win prizes. Any
individual who is at least 13 years of age as of the Start Date, but has not
reached the age of majority in his or her country, state, province or territory
of residence, may register to participate in a Contest but will NOT
be eligible to win prizes. SimLeague Hockey is not open to employees,
representatives and agents of the National Hockey League and its Member Teams,
the National Hockey League Players' Association, the NHL Alumni Association, NHL
Enterprises, L.P., NHL Enterprises Canada, L.P., NHL Enterprises B.V. or NHL
Interactive CyberEnterprises (collectively, the "NHL Entities") or of the
Sponsor, WhatIfSports.com, Inc., any advertising and promotional organizations
related to SimLeague Hockey, the respective subsidiaries and/or affiliates of
any of the foregoing, the Contest judges (collectively, the "SimLeague Hockey
Parties"), and any person domiciled with, and/or an immediate family member
(parents, sisters, brothers, children, spouse) of any of the SimLeague Hockey
Parties.
SIMLEAGUE HOCKEY START DATE. SimLeague Hockey begins at 12:00 p.m. on
May 20, 2003 (the "Start Date"), after which individuals may register to play in
a Contest and/or in an Exhibition League. Sponsor will notify all registered
WhatIfSports.com users (including, without limitation, Contest participants) of
SimLeague Hockey's end date ("End Date Notification") via email, after which no
entries into a Contest or Exhibition League will be accepted. Any Contest or
Exhibition League in progress as of the date of the End Date Notification will
proceed until completed.
Contests: After the Start Date, each Contest will start on the date
identified in an email each registered entrant in the Contest will receive after
the league becomes filled with 24 teams, and end when play in that particular
league is completed (the "Contest Period"). Each Contest Period is
55 days from start to finish (including all playoff rounds) and
each team in a Contest plays an 82-regular season game schedule consisting of 2
games per day, followed by playoff rounds for those teams that qualify in
accordance with the Hockey Rules. Each Contest is comprised of 2 conferences �
3 divisions in each conference with 4 teams in each division. The regular
season schedule for each Contest will be generated once that league is filled
and will be e-mailed to registered entrants in the Contest at least three days
prior to the start of that league's season. Upon completion of the regular
season schedule, the teams in each Contest which qualify in accordance with the
Hockey Rules will participate in playoff rounds until such teams are
eliminated. No entries into a Contest will be accepted after the End Date
Notification (see above).
Exhibition Leagues: After the Start Date, each Exhibition League will
start on the date identified in an email each registered entrant in the
Exhibition League will receive after the league becomes filled with 6 teams) and
end when play in that particular league is completed. Each Exhibition League
lasts five days from start to finish and each Exhibition League
team plays a 10-game season consisting of two games per day. No playoff rounds
are played in Exhibition Leagues and there are no prizes. Each Exhibition
League is comprised of 1 division with 6 teams. The season schedule for each
Exhibition League will be generated once that league is filled and will be
e-mailed to registered entrants in the Exhibition League prior to the start of
that league's season. No entries into an Exhibition League will be accepted
after the End Date Notification (see above).
Sponsor reserves the right to not create one or more Contests and/or Exhibition Leagues,
and/or to terminate one or more Contests and/or Exhibition Leagues, at any time
for any reason without liability to the participants therein. In the event that
a Contest is not created or is terminated by the Sponsor, Sponsor will
credit the applicable Contest participants for another Contest
or issue a refund. All times are local New York time.
HOW TO ENTER. Visit the Sponsor's website at
www.whatifsports.com or go to
www.nhl.com (and click on Fantasy Games in the
left menu), follow the links to the SimLeague� Hockey web page, click on
join
WhatIfSports.com and complete the Account Member Information and
Account Security boxes (the Account Security box is where you will be assigned a
WhatIfSports.com username and password) (the "Registration Process"). Once you
have completed the Registration Process, you may participate in one or more
Exhibition Leagues for free. You may participate in one Exhibition League only
within a 30-day period. To participate in one or more Contests, you must
complete the Registration Process and follow the prompts to pay the entry fee of
US $9.95 per team by credit card. You may also play in one or more Contests by
completing the Registration Process, and printing and completing an
order form indicating that you wish to participate in one or more
Contests (make sure you include your WhatIfSports.com username on the order
form), and mailing it in a postage-paid, stamped envelope with a money order for
US $9.95 per team (payable to WhatIfSports.com, Inc.) to P.O. Box 43494,
Cincinnati, Ohio 45243. Upon receipt of your money order, Sponsor will credit
your account with the number of teams you paid for and you may then participate
in one or more Contests as an owner of that number of teams. For details on how
to join and play in a Contest (i.e., Full-Season League), click here to see
the Hockey Rules. In the event of a dispute as to the
identity of an entrant, the entrant will be deemed to be the person in whose
name the WhatIfSports.com account was registered on the date when registering to
play SimLeague Hockey.
The SimLeague Hockey Parties and their respective affiliates, officers, directors, governors,
representatives, agents and employees (the "SimLeague Hockey Parties and their
Agents") are not liable for: lost, late, stolen, illegible, delayed, garbled or
misdirected entries, WhatIfSports.com usernames and passwords; technical
hardware or software failures of any kind; lost or unavailable network
connections; failed, incomplete, or damaged entries; or for garbled or delayed
computer transmissions even if the foregoing limit a user's ability to
participate in a Contest and/or Exhibition League in any way or to win. The
SimLeague Hockey Parties and their Agents are not responsible for any problems
or the technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line
systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any
e-mail on account of technical problems or traffic congestion, or any
combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other
person's computer or other property related to or resulting from participation
or downloading any materials in connection with any Contest and/or Exhibition
League.
PRIZES. Each Contest winner will be awarded 3,000 Reward Points
that can be redeemed online at the WhatIfSports.com Reward Center. (approximate
retail value is US $20.00). (The "Prize"), subject to the verification and
confirmation requirements (as applicable) set out below. Each potential Contest
winner will be notified by e-mail only, unless he/she is required by the
Sponsor in its sole discretion to complete and return a Release (as defined
below), in which case he/she will also be notified by mail.
Anything not explicitly indicated as part of the Prize, including but not limited to taxes,
fees and insurance, is solely the responsibility of each Contest winner. The
Prize will automatically appear in each winner's WhatIfSports.com Rewards Center account after
the Contest has fully completed. The Prize must be accepted
as awarded and cannot be transferred, redeemed for cash, substituted or
exchanged except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor, who reserves the right
to substitute any Prize with another prize of equal or greater approximate value
if the advertised Prize is unavailable. All amounts are expressed in US
dollars.
VERIFICATION OF POTENTIAL WINNERS. Each potential winner is
subject to verification of compliance with these Official Rules. Each potential
winner may, at the option of the Sponsor, be required to complete and return a
declaration of eligibility and liability/publicity release ("Release") within
fourteen (14) days of the date on the notification, and otherwise comply with
these Official Rules, or the Prize will be forfeited and another potential
winner will be selected by the Sponsor in accordance with these Official Rules.
If any prize notification is returned as undeliverable or if the entrant does
not respond within fourteen (14) days, that potential winner will be
disqualified, will not receive a Prize, and an alternate potential winner will
be selected by the Sponsor in accordance with these Official Rules.
COLLECTION OF INFORMATION. Collection of any personally
identifiable information will be in accordance with the
privacy policy of
WhatIfSports.com and the privacy
policy of NHL.com. (collectively, the �Privacy Policy�).
GENERAL. By entering a Contest, each entrant agrees
that (except in Tennessee and where otherwise prohibited by law) each of the
SimLeague Hockey Parties may use the name, address, comments, likeness of the
entrant if she/he becomes a winner of a Prize, in publicity or advertising in
any medium now known or hereafter devised (including the Internet or other
interactive network) in perpetuity throughout the universe without further
compensation or right of review. All Contest entrants are subject to and agree
to comply with and be bound by these Official Rules, the Privacy Policy and the
decisions of the judges of the Contest, which are final and binding on all
entrants for all aspects of the Contest. Non-compliance with any provisions of
these Official Rules, use of foul, racist, abusive or offensive language,
including within a team name, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole
discretion; cheating (whether directly or indirectly) or arranging or attempting
to arrange wins with other players within a league; or any attempt to damage the
Contest or its community in any way will be grounds for disqualification of the
potential winner, forfeiture of any Prize, and selection of an alternate entrant
in accordance with these Official Rules. Each Contest winner is responsible for
all federal, state, provincial and local taxes. All national, state, provincial
and local laws and regulations apply.
The SimLeague Hockey Parties and their Agents are not responsible for typographical or other errors
in the offer or administration of any Contest, including but not limited to
errors in advertising, these Official Rules, the selection and announcement of
the winners, or the distribution of any Prizes. The SimLeague Hockey Parties
and their Agents: (i) make no warranty, guaranty, or representation of any kind
concerning any Prize, (ii) disclaim any implied warranty or condition, and (iii)
are not liable for injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting form the
acceptance or use of any Prize or from participation in a Contest including,
without limitation, any error(s) in scoring and/or administering a Contest.
Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify a Contest at any time, without notice if fraud,
technical failures, virus, bugs, unauthorized human intervention, or other
causes beyond the control of Sponsor destroy the integrity of the Contest as
determined in Sponsor's sole discretion, and may award the Prize to the entrant
with the team with the most points in each league at the time of termination.
In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined in accordance with the same
procedure used to determine division winners under the Hockey Rules. If there
is still a tie, duplicate Prizes will be awarded. Any attempt by an individual
to deliberately damage any Web site or undermine the legitimate operation of a
Contest (including, but not limited to, any violations of these Official Rules)
may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be
made, Sponsor reserves the right to: (i) disqualify any such entrant from the
Contest or any further participation therein (after which, Sponsor will not
acknowledge communications from such entrant); and (ii) seek damages from such
entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law. In the event that one or more
Contest participants are disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will, if
practicable, use reasonable efforts to replace such participant(s) with one or
more WhatIfSports.com registered users selected by Sponsor in its sole
discretion.
All Contests are governed by the laws of the state of New York, with venue in New York, NY and
all claims regarding one or more Contests must be filed in the appropriate court
in this venue.
WINNERS' LIST: The names of Contest winners are available by mailing a self-addressed, stamped
envelope to WhatIfSports.com, P.O. Box 43494, Cincinnati, OH 45243.
