New "go the Distance..." PL forming Topic

.The basis of this Progressive League is, "The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball."
There are many similarities between this GTDPL and most progressives but a few differences.

The differences follow with a more detailed explanation below them.
We will "Go the Distance" as every decade must be represented on your team's roster every season.

Joe Jackson rosters: "You wouldn't believe how many guys wanted to play..." Every player in MLB history is available for drafting.

"When did those ballplayers get here?" There is a blacklist of players already playing and therefore not available for subsequent drafting.

"Is this the place where dreams come true?": Home Fields change yearly.

"Is this heaven?" Team Names will be anything but must contain the name of the ballpark. Year to year examples might be: Sicks Condor, or Ebbetts Condor, then Jarry Condor and so forth.

Annies trade thoughts, "Hey, What if the Voice calls?

wins and losses weigh in by Archie Graham, "Hey Ump, how 'bout a warning?"

"If you build it..." The Voice
Rosters consists of 25 players
draft and trade for players
at least one from every decade and no more than two for any decade.
players progress from rookie until cut or retirement

"There are rules here?....." Terence Mann

"Go the distance." The Voice
1a. Your first roster must be made piece by piece. Of your 1st 15 draftees one rookie pick must come from each of the 15 decades MLB has existed.
1b. For your remaining 10 draftees you are allowed 10 additional rookies but these, too, are limited to one per decade. (Maxing out at two players on your roster from any one decade.)
1c. You may draft only rookies from their first WIS season.
1d. Running rosters will be kept by the Commissioner, updated each season, with the season every player selected will be playing in.
1e. IR players are unlimited but their seasons also progress and their roster spot ( the decade ) must be taken by a new selection from the same decade. This includes replacing a player who makes him the second player from the decade if you had two from that decade to start with).
1f. Retiring or cut players can be replaced by players from any decade as long as your team has players representing all decades at draft's conclusion.
1g. In the first draft, slots will be appointed by random drawing. It will be Snake style. (Following years will be worst to first format.)
1h. A Hard cap of $140 million.
1i. Players may only play in their WIS designated available positions in any given season.

2. After the initial draft you must select players that: "If you build what, who will come?" Annie Kinsella
a. ...fills in the decades that you have no players still performing in. (You must always have at least one player from each decade).
b. ...fit season roster requirements. There is a max of 2 players per decade, so, you cannot draft a 3rd player in the decade. Also if, by oddity, you would have 3 players in a decade one must be cut before the next draft begins (this includes active and IR).

3 Drafts will be from worst to first with 2 exceptions: "Its okay. I don't mind." Karin Kinsella
3.a ...the worst four teams will participate in a weighted lottery to determine the draft order. This seeding will be for the 1st TWO ROUNDS then worst to first afterwards.
3.b ...being the playoff teams will be seeded by the playoff contestants picking last (playoff losers by W/L, records and then WS loser followed by WS winner picking last.

4. Each season a new home ball park. "Is this the place where dreams come true?" John Kinsella
4a. This draft will occur in reverse order of standing at game 120 allowing completion before the EOS Players Draft. A max of 6 parks from the current season may be used the following season. All other parks will be put on a black list until every historical park has been used....then we start again with all parks available.
4b. Our initial STADIUM/Park draft will be determined by random drawing.

5. USED PLAYERS BLACKLIST. "When did all those ballplayers get here?" Mark
There will be an Alphabetical List compiled during the first draft and carried forward Showing all players (One for Pitchers and another for Position Players) that have already been selected and are NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO BE DRAFTED BY ANOTHER TEAM.
"
6. People and picks trades: "Hey, what if The Voice calls?" Annie Kinsella
6a. IN SEASON TRADES FOR PLAYERS may be made. Decade requirements are waived for in-season trades but the 2 max and 1 minimum decade rules must be achieved before the next draft is completed.
6b. A team can trade picks for only the next three seasons. ie: If playing in season 14 you can trade future picks for seasons 15, 16 and 17 only. IF in draft FOR SEASON 14 YOU CAN ONLY trade picks for seasons 14, 15, and 16.

7. Win Min draft formula: "Hey Ump, how 'bout a warning?" Archie Graham
All teams must have 55 wins by EOS. Any team that does not will drop out of the draft lottery at minimum, maxing out with a 4 draft slot fall for first two rounds of the draft. Teams that finished outside of the lottery will not be moved into the lottery.

8. Tiebreakers: "What are you talking about?" Ray Kinsella
Easy to understand. All tiebreakers are decided by the previous season's finish. Whichever team earned the higher draft pick the previous season will get the lower to break the tie.

9. 24 team league would be ideal but 16 would work also.' "And is there enough magic out there in the moonlight to make this dream come true?" Moonlight Graham

10. General rules followed: "Oh. Dog and a beer." Terence Mann

A question was asked, "What is the definition of a decade?" Simply put. It is a 10 year period that starts with a Zero and ends with a nine. (There are necessary exceptions in the first and last decade.)

ie 1885 -1889 (our first is short), 1890-1889, 1900-1909, 1910-1919, 1920-1929, 1930-1939, 1940-1949, 1950-1959, 1960-1969, 1970-1979, 1980-1989, 1990-1999, 2000- 2009, 2010-2019, 2020-2024 (or whatever year the latest annual WIS update includes)....
