It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden death of Ronald Southwell Jr, on Monday October 21, 2024 at the age of 69.

Beloved spouse of Marie-Josée Hudon (MJ) whom he married in 1999, Ron came to join her in Montreal shortly after to begin a wonderful life together which was so dear to him. He was a devoted dog dad to their Schnauzer Maya, who constantly watched the door waiting for his return.

Ron was proud of his military career with the USAF (United States Air Force) for 21 years. He obtained his Canadian citizenship in 2013. He was born in Lima, Ohio, to the late Mary Jones and Ronald Southwell Sr.

Ron was always very nice to me personally, asking me how my cancer treatment was going and things like that. I will miss having him as a part of our basketball community. RIP Ron.

Sorry to hear. He was a nice guy for sure.

This must have been quite sudden. He's been a great owner and fierce competitor in the DSPL prog. Recently winning back to back championships with his beloved Pugs!
He was always very friendly and reasonable even when we had issues over some trades within the league. Never any bad blood. It's easy to get overly emotional even with something as trivial as WifS.
He was always willing to help out with orphan teams which always is a blessing for the Commish!
Says he been a member since 2003. Sounds like he had a good life and a happy marriage! I'll miss him
and will keep his loved ones and his dogs in my prayers.

Thank you for sharing this very sad news. I'm so sorry to see him go. Ron was always kind and engaging with me and was a good progressive owner.

I just looked at the various spontaneous site-mails that Ron sent me just over the last year. I suspect he brought a smile to many people in his life.
