Managerial settings - Argumentative Topic

Ok, I've been playing this game for 100 years and never understood the importance of the argumentative setting. I know the more aggressive you have it leads to the manager getting ejected more. What affect does a manager getting ejected have?

I've never even wondered about it. I run my Argumentative setting at Very Aggressive. Just staying true to myself, I grew up watching Earl Weaver. The one unexpected effect I think it seems to have - I haven't documented evidence - is that it seems like it amplifies all the other settings. Like, never missing a double switch or a pitcher pull.

The one thing I wish I could do is walk power hitters no matter what. Yep I'm that kind of jerkhole.

In a perfect game it might result in losing the coach but also possibly firing up the team with some sort of bonus multiplier. We know coaches are replaced in the game, as for any bonus to the team? I doubt it, but what do I know

Bonus multiplier might seem about right. That's what I always thought anyway.

If a manager argues a call, his players get a small positive bump for the next half-inning. The description is found by hitting the small yellow ? circle on the Managerial Settings page in top right...

" if you set your manager's argumentative rating to a five he is highly likely to contest a call at a pivotal point in the game. In this case, if he argues the call his players immediately receive a ratings boost for that half inning. However, if he is ejected, the bench coach must take over for the remainder of the game. Bench coaches use the default neutral managerial settings. Also, having an argumentative manager will increase the player's temper rating. There are positives and negatives associated with every tendency."

There is zero benefit to getting yourself thrown out of a game. You are the manager and once you are ejected from the game, your managerial settings are lost and your Bench Coach takes over running the team. Your team does not get "fired up" or "motivated" seeing their manager throw out of the game.

Also, never spend above the minimum on a Bench Coach. Unless you are thrown out of a game, the Bench Coach has ZERO impact on the game or development of players.

I set my argumentative to "never" and therefore I can completely ignore the "strategy" setting on the ML bench coach. I also never spend more than the minimum for the ML bench coach, but I do select one of the leftover coaches based on the patience and discipline ratings.

Apparently I have been wasting millions on coaches that really are not helping my teams. I realize that the fielding coach is vital to the whole organization, but never thought the bench coach was pretty much useless. I am glad everyone comes in and discusses stuff like this so "noodle heads" like me can learn more everyday.

This also leads me to a question. The fielding coach affects the whole organization from ML to rookie ball, but what about the 1st and 3rd base coaches? Do they have any affect on the lower minors since you can only hire them at ML level?
