1st rd pick shows 82 potential after signing its 69

So my question is. Is it just spending more money in that area?

Thanks!

What was your scouting budget, and your draft slot?

College 11 HS 8 Adv 10

Pick was 1.24

Was just curious of the difference. Is that a common thing...its been 8 years since I played

That is the problem with this game. You should be able to set your scouting to whatever you want in the first year having the team. Because it is bad that new owners of previous bad teams get shafted in the draft because they can't set scouting high enough to draft best available player.

Next time draft a guy that won't sign until a season or two later when you can have scouting high enough to get best available player.

Yeah, unless you are at $20M in scouting, the ratings you see won't be accurate.

thanks for the info!. So hard to find in depth information on the nuances of the game

Next season you'll be able to move five mil in either direction on your College and HS scouting. Pick which one you prefer - College shows more prospects but further along in their development curve; HS shows less prospects but thoretically/potentially higher top end development - and move 5 from one to the other. You'll get far more accurate projections at 16/15 mil than this season, and more prospects. Or if you have the budget room, add 5 mil to both. Depends on the rest of your budgeting.

appreciate that!

what does advnace scounting do?

Advance scouting lets you see projections for other teams' players. You can always see their current ratings.
It works similarly to College/HS scouting in that 20 mil gives you more accurate - but never perfect - projections; spending less money on it gives you less accurate projections.
You will see or hear that many owners here budget "Zero Advance" and used that available 20 million for something else. We rely on our experience and knowledge of a player's draft position or signing value, age, and service time to guesstimate a player's projections. It's been said that Advance scouting only requires spending on if you trade for other team's young prospects a lot.

I never put any money into Advanced scouting. Once they reach 26 years old you will see exactly what they really are.

Advanced is not just other team's players, it also involves your own players. Higher ADV scouting budget, the more accurate the future projections are. A couple caveats - pretty much after age 27 or 4 seasons, whichever comes first, the player will pretty much be whatever Current says, with projections out the window.

Many of the veteran owners have enough experience to do their own projections so they zero out the Advanced Scouting budget. They can tell, based on Current values, age, experience (and some other factors to a lesser degree) where the player should end up when done developing.

Did you takeover the team after budgets had been set?

For future reference if you start the season with a new team you have the option to wipe out the previous owners budget and start with 10s across the board, you can then go 5 up or down on any item, so you could have drafted with 15s.

I did this one season. You have to have enough prospect salary to offer him what he is asking, by the way. Amazingly, he signed. Was a crap player through and through. What a debacle that was
