WIS Update 1/8/25 Topic

Back again with our bi-weekly update. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And if you didn't, it's ok, because you probably got to spend more time on WhatIfSports... I've got some quick, bulleted updates and then a longer administrative update about changes in the payment processing.
  • As you've probably noticed on the site banner, 2024 NFL and College Football rosters have been uploaded and are now available.
  • Thank you to everyone who sent me a message expressing interest in representing the community for your specific games. I'll be following up with next steps and you'll be the first to try out the user feedback tool.
  • While the Devs are knee deep in code and the important stuff, I've been working on updating the WhatIfSports Shop for the first time.. ever? We'll have some new gear/swag available for purchase with updated logos and some familiar brands. Hoping to have this done by the next bi-weekly update.

As part of our transition from SportsHub, we are integrating our own payment solution for purchasing seasons, and will no longer directly support SportsHub wallet for payment. This change will go into effect on January 15th. While we expect no downtime, there will be some impacts to users:

1.) If you have a balance in your SportsHub wallet, you will no longer be able to use that balance to purchase WhatIfSports seasons. You will still be able to access this wallet at any time to withdraw those funds, or play other SportsHub products. But you may not use the balance for future WhatIfSports purchases.
*This is not to be confused with WhatIfSports credits, which will remain intact.

2.) We will no longer be able to issue credit card refunds on any seasons purchased using the SportsHub wallet. While we will be able to support refunds after the Stripe integration, any historical purchases will be marked as "final" and only eligible for refunds as site credits.

3.) The new payment solution will not have history of saved cards, so for your first payment you will need to re-enter card information again. You may then opt into saving card information for future purchases.

4.) We will also be transitioning away from SportsHub's login and authorization system over the next few weeks, the WhatIfSports site header will still show SportsHub branding and be linked to the SportsHub wallet. For now, please disregard any wallet information displayed in the header. As mentioned earlier, the SportsHub wallet will no longer be a valid payment method, and depositing funds into the wallet will not be available for purchasing seasons. If you do deposit by mistake, you will be able to withdraw those funds, or play other SportsHub products.

TLDR: January 15th we will be integrating Stripe as the new payment processor. You will no longer be able to use SportsHub wallets to purchase WhatIfSports seasons, but your WhatIfSports credits will remain intact. After the Stripe integration, we will be transitioning away from SportsHub's login and auth system. We will communicate everything you need to know in the forums, discord servers, banners on the site, and mass emails.

2025 is going to be a great year for WhatIfSports. Let's enjoy the ride.
