Short answer... Yes.

The Bad News: In the last two sessions, my teams went 1-6 in games decided by 1-run, including the following losses*

*Up 3-1, we give up 3 runs in the bottom of the 12th, all coming after 2 outs (Giants)
*Up 3-0, we give up 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th, the last 2 coming after 2 outs (Braves)

The Good News: Over that same period, my teams combined to go 22-5 in games decided by 2+ runs...

Seems like a fair tradeoff...

As of right now, my 4th, 5th, 8th and 9th picks are all above .500. The rest - not so much. Heck, my Top 3 picks: 1939 Yankees, 1941 Red Sox and the 1941 Cardinals are a combined 59 - 76. I would have bet money that all three would be guaranteed a spot in Round Two. Whew....unless things turn around, I'm glad I didn't bet.

As a post-note: My fifth best team (currently) is my LAST pick - the 1914 Tigers. Right now, they're only one game below .500 (but watch out - here comes the forum jinx...)

What makes these type of tournaments fun is that you can't always know which teams are going to be good and which aren't.

I was the last person to take a Dodgers team. My '62 Dodgers team is 32-13. footballmm11's 1942 Red Sox was selected 23rd and are 31-14. Who knew contrarian23's 1940 Tigers (31-14, picked 8th) would be so good? I didn't. My #1 overall pick of the 1917 Braves (25-20) doesn't seem that great considering you were able to get the 1999 Braves (31-14) with pick #16. I chose the 2000 A's (19-26) at #22, two spots ahead of contrarian23's 1970 A's (30-15). I didn't even look at 1970.

Mine are hitting for average but not much else. They’ve combined for 2 HR, which is 1 more than my David Ortiz has managed. I don’t understand what’s happening in that league.

Well, in that case, I've got nothing ...

My 1974 Red Sox were a mid-round (#12?) pick for that franchise but right now have the third best record. I knew that they'd be really fun to play with. But the Marichal/Tiant led pitching staff and the lineup full of 60s/70s legends like Lynn, Rice, Fisk, Petrocelli, and Yaz is performing every bit as well as I'd hoped they would!

With 17 teams, my goal every session is at least 9-8. Well, check out these last five sessions. In aggregate, it averages out to 9-8, but yikes... not what I was expecting...

My ‘12 O’s team was 33-18, 1 back of the division and leading the WC. 1-9 since, now 7 back in the division and 4 back of the WC. Crap like this is exactly why I hate this game at times.

Streaks are a function of who your opponent is. You just played the two best teams in the AL.
