I was curious whether there were any conferences below Division I-A that were at least half full of humans (6 or more coaches). So I went searching on 8/28/24. I did not find any at Division I-AA or Division II (a few I-AA conferences with 4). There were three in Division III:

• Heisman, Freedom Football Conference, 7
• Stagg, SCAC, 9
• Rockne, SCAC, 7

The Heisman group was interesting because four of those are first-year coaches, or at least the first season with that user name.

Scac in stagg was just at 12 a season ago too

And, two weeks later, Heisman/Freedom is down to two humans.

There are still humans playing ?

The game is dying.

I'll be honest, I've got one or two seasons left and then I think I'll retire. Been playing for six or seven years and the recruiting is just too much for me now. Not to mention it seems like the human participation is about half what it was a few years ago.

Some hyperbole without actual facts. It feels like about 10 coaches operate 50 or so teams across different worlds.

It looks like they never do anything to update the game experience. I've played with my brother and nephew but they lost interest quickly because some parts of the seem like they were done in 1980 and never updated. Of course I think getting destroyed by good managers 109-0 might be part of the discouragement too. lol

I noticed DePauw in Rockne is available. DePauw is on the list of schools that have never won a national championship in any world.
SCAC in Rockne and Stagg both currently have eight humans.

I played for one with Depauw in Leahy a while back. I wish the game would archive so you could go back and see all the information about those teams, like players, stats, game stats, etc.

One of these years I'll get over the hump with that DePauw squad. It's a little tougher now that the conf is loaded with good human coaches. And not to mention Rdatz and mfnmyers lurking in the playoffs.
