A Poem for the first half
Expectations were high for my second WISC tourney,
Though it’s been a rollercoaster ride, one heck of a journey.
I started off hot, firmly in the cage,
But my teams have fallen off, and I’m filled with baseball rage.
My 70M has been a struggle, looking like a dud,
I firmly believe the talent’s there; they’ll clean off all the mud.
I maxed out on 300 SBs on my 80M team,
But that might not have been the winning strategy it would seem.
They’ve been within a couple games of .500 all season,
With middling numbers all around being the reason.
The Box team is my anchor, we’re cooking with fire,
But I’m in the better league, so it will come down to the wire.
I think we’ll get in, punch our ticket to the dance,
And should we get in, everybody’s got a chance.
The warrior bunch is doing just might fine,
Riding on the back of our players from the 9.
This team has been on a slide, with vibes a bit down,
But I have full faith in Mordecai Brown.
Take Five was the team I thought I had figured out,
The offense was potent, and the pitching was stout.
Sadly, the offense is fine, the arms haven’t been stellar,
And at 41-40, I’m one game out of the cellar.
A silver lining, they’re 5-16 in one run games,
We’ll pick up the pace and start taking names.
The clone team is struggling, in a free fall,
Maybe 5 Tommy Milones wasn’t a great idea after all?
The offense is dynamic, any given night could put up ten,
But that might not be enough with Milone in the ‘pen.
Overall, we’re having fun, checking three times a day,
Thankful to be included, given a chance to play.
The second half should be bright, with all our goals attainable,
I’m a combined 53-75 in 1-run games, that can’t be sustainable?!?!?
So, let’s put this slump behind us and continue to have fun,
And cheers to a competitive final eighty-one!
