Opinion about spd vs Elu for DB's Topic

What is every one's opinion about speed and elu for pass coverage? I tend to look at speed more, but I'm probably wrong

I don't look at elusiveness at all for a DB.

I have long wondered about this question.

The default GD ratings and the GUESS ratings completely ignore Elusiveness for defensive players. Yet, Joe Conte indicated that Elusiveness is a factor for defensive players - and sometimes a primary factor, like for DEs rushing the passer.

In an interview with Bob Hazelwood (of GUESS Ratings fame), Conte excluded Elusiveness from the Primary Attributes for DBs, but he seemed to include Elusiveness as a Secondary Attribute for DBs. Conte specifically described Elusiveness as "highly important" for Corners and "moderately important" for Safeties.

Based on that, I have been using the following hierarchy for DB attributes:
Primary Attributes: GI and SPD
Secondary Attributes: ATH, ELU, TECH, HANDS, STR and TKL

How about the rest of you? From your experience, how much weight should be put on Elusiveness for DBs?

But the engine was completely redone after Joe Conte left....so, I don't think any of that old info is still good.

In any case, I don't even look at ELU for DBs.

With the type of program harriswb3 runs he should value ELU at all positions so his boys can dodge the cops. :)

Elu weighs somewhere between 0-3% into player card role values for DB/S/CB

wow really? How did you come up with this number ? Interesting

Wow. That is significantly lower than expected. So that would support the notion that ELU is no longer meaningful for DBs in this new/revised game engine.

Since Ath is an attribute you train for since it is an important secondary attribute, you automatically are training for Elus. Whether that makes a diff in effectiveness in a db or not is anyone's guess.
