My $140M team is 6-20 and currently on an L-11. I've got three Ruth's and three Jimmie Foxx's in my everyday line-up. My hitting is above average as it goes. My pitching, however...

Two Babe Ruth's and two Randy Johnson's make up my Starting Staff. One Randy Johnson is doing alright - the other three SP's suck royally. Get this - my closer (a very good 1943 Niggeling) has only one save. That's because HE'S ONLY HAD ONE OPPORTUNITY IN 26 GAMES!

My other five teams are "right now" holding their own but this $140M team will crush any hopes I ever had of advancing. I know it's early but I just don't see it making THAT big of a turn-around.

Okay, I'm off of my soapbox.

The top two ERAs in my 140M league belong to 1998 Greg Madduxes. My 98 Maddux, however, has an 8.06 ERA.

My teams' records (lowest to highest salary cap)
.
16-10
17-8
18-8
14-12
13-13
8-18 (averaging under 3 runs per game, high run output of the season is 7 runs, in extras).

I need thejuice6's Randy Johnsons and redcped's '98 Maddux to face my 140M team and they will get better.

I literally just did that to get pitching fatigue back in order, could not believe my eyes when I saw the score. Can't believe I won and that the Milones kept it to 16. Agreed, no chance that happens in real life
Whoa. I admit it’s extremely frustrating when it happens (real life and in sim) but it does happen regularly. Almost every AAA pitcher or washed up scrub manages to look like a Cy Young winner for a game or two (Usually, it seems, against my Jays).
Conversely, every Ace has their bad games (Kershaw calls them playoffs).

Patrick Corbin, the losingest pitcher in the league 4 years running, even managed to win 3 straight starts in 2023.

It's more the cumulative effect I have a problem with. I haven't allowed more than 12 runs all season. But suddenly two Pedros and an Eck implode and give up 18, in a game against three complete scrubs, where my offense can "only" score 16.

Bansberg throws 3 scrub Tommy Milones at my $140M team and gives up 16 runs. But his team wins 18-16 because apparently, Milone is better than Pedro and Eckersley.

Games like this make me seriously want to quit this game. There is just no way in hell that would ever happen.
Too bad my 140M team isn't in your league. You could throw those same 3 scrub Tommy Milones against my pathetic 140M team, and they would shut me down, even with a <10% fatigue rating.

dont feel bad, my 98 maddux is rocking a 7.90 era. which is still better than my 15 kershaws 9 era

Ouch. I had forgotten how slowly we climb the standings when we're playing well, and how quickly we plummet when we're not.

Well, 162 games in, and I'm exactly .500. Keep grinding, boys!

Amazing...

After stopping the losing streak at 13, the "not very good" Randy Johnson gets his first W of the season, lowering his numbers to an 11.34 ERA, a .347 OAV and a 2.16 WHIP. He "lowered" his numbers to those.

Then, one of the putrid Jimmy Foxx's goes 5 for 6 with four Home Runs and a double. Only 15 more W's in a row and we'll be back up to .500!

My teams climbed out of the basement and got to 80-82 at the end of the first 162, at least within sight of the Cage.

Then we started the second 162 with back-to-back 1-5s, and it's back to the cellar for me.

Ugh.

(Thanks for the reminder to show the 162-game splits)

Had a nice streak of wins or ties to climb into the cage. Thought to myself - no Schwarze’s or Mauchs yet, sure enough 0-6 overnight.
