Three more 1-run losses in the pm cycle, running us to 8-21 overall in that category. Not saying I should be doing great at this point, but a lot better certainly.

my conclusion so far is the field is much stronger than usual, not just the reduction to 72 but a relative lack of complete newbies or generally hopeless owners, I've gone against very few awful teams so far

I’m sure you’ll get me soon enough, 06gsp

First schwarze. Let’s hope it turns our momentum around.

But, deprecating remarks on my teams aside, I agree with your analysis. Not many weak sisters in this tourney.

Largest failure so far vs. RL. John McGraw...on base machine. .340 and 451 OBP. .195 and .240 here. Not looking for him to move a mountain but a key to the team strategy in that league was he and Ashburn on base all the time at the top of the lineup. Then the average middle of the lineup guys would be able to drive them in....but if not on base, cannot score.

I'm kind of still a newbie, I've been playing baseball since last December although I've been playing hockey fir almost 20 years. I'm starting to have success in open leagues but theme leagues are still hit or miss for me. I thought I would be closer to middle of the pack but I'm in the lower tier. I feel like my teams could make a push but it's tough to gain any momentum with the level of competition here.

Judging by my overall record from the last 20 years, I put myself into the "generally hopeless" category.

I’m going to end up with 6 .500 teams and no playoffs at this rate.

Shout out to my 1980 Reggie Smith, who is posting a .135/.179/.212 line for my $100M team.

It’s great when the tournament feels over before it even really starts. 5 of my teams off to a hot start and all have pretty much sucked the past 5 days.

Hot starts and cold streaks are meaningless early in the season. A hot start may mean you played 2 or 3 bottom-feeder teams in a row. A cold streak may be related to playing a couple of 90+ win teams in a row. Until you play every team at least one series, nothing can really be determined about the strength of your team.

Example: ronthegenius thought his 140M team was good after sweeping me in the second series of the season. Little did he know that my 140M team is the worst in the tournament, averaging under 3 runs per game. ronthegenius' 140M team is now 10-14.

Just thinking same thing as done really bad recently until this AM session 4-2 but hoping things will level or even out. ... Embarrassing at 64-86 but I did make my teams in a hurry so to speak ...

Bansberg throws 3 scrub Tommy Milones at my $140M team and gives up 16 runs. But his team wins 18-16 because apparently, Milone is better than Pedro and Eckersley.

Games like this make me seriously want to quit this game. There is just no way in hell that would ever happen.

I literally just did that to get pitching fatigue back in order, could not believe my eyes when I saw the score. Can't believe I won and that the Milones kept it to 16. Agreed, no chance that happens in real life
