There is no longer - not that there ever was - any excuse for supporting Trump. It doesn't matter what you think of Biden, the Democractic party, liberalism, etc. None of it matters. If you support Trump, you are a traitor to the very idea of what it means to be an American. Trump is anti-freedom, anti-military, anti-justice, anti-accountability, anti-democracy, anti-woman, anti-minority, anti-everything that once made this country a shining city on the hill. And since virtually the entire GOP supports Trump, if you are voting for ANY rethuglican, the same applies.

Truth. Israel come hell or high water is not going to be deterred from its sacred obligation right now to kill off the Gaza fighters. And destroy all tunnels.
There has not been one critic and not one military analyst who has said that civilian deaths can be avoided.

Gaza got itself into this mess and they can very easily get itself out of it. The fighters want civilians killed for the propaganda machine.

Ah yes. Shining city on a hill. From the Gospel according to Matthew. Jesus was referring to salt and light in his Sermon on the Mount and his City on a Hill was resurrected in America in 1630 by John Winthrop in his "A model of Christian Charity" delivered to the colonists embarked on the Arbella as they created the Boston settlement. The city on a hill.

John Kennedy referred to in 1961 in an address to the General Court of Massachusetts. To wit:

... I have been guided by the standard John Winthrop set before his shipmates on the flagship Arabella three hundred and thirty-one years ago, as they, too, faced the task of building a new government on a perilous frontier. "We must always consider", he said, "that we shall be as a city upon a hill—the eyes of all people are upon us". Today the eyes of all people are truly upon us—and our governments, in every branch, at every level, national, state and local, must be as a city upon a hill—constructed and inhabited by men aware of their great trust and their great responsibilities. For we are setting out upon a voyage in 1961 no less hazardous than that undertaken by the Arabella in 1630. We are committing ourselves to tasks of statecraft no less awesome than that of governing the Massachusetts Bay Colony, beset as it was then by terror without and disorder within. History will not judge our endeavors—and a government cannot be selected—merely on the basis of color or creed or even party affiliation. Neither will competence and loyalty and stature, while essential to the utmost, suffice in times such as these. For of those to whom much is given, much is required

More recently and more famously it was used in President Ronald Reagans farewell address:

I have quoted John Winthrop's words more than once on the campaign trail this year—for I believe that Americans in 1980 are every bit as committed to that vision of a shining city on a hill, as were those long ago settlers ... These visitors to that city on the Potomac do not come as white or black, red or yellow; they are not Jews or Christians; conservatives or liberals; or Democrats or Republicans. They are Americans awed by what has gone before, proud of what for them is still… a shining city on a hill.

And then there's contrarian23....................

Beings there was an actual post (no memes) I took the time to read your post Doug.

Good stuff. Seriously.
You should give this more often.

Now, how does the Maga nuts attitude mesh with this??
They think our Country is anything but a "shiny city on a hill" inspiring all us citizens............they think the Country is a sh*thole and a mess that needs the great Messiah to make great again.............as IF it isn't now...............and especially as if their Great Messiah was anything but the transparent conman that he is.

It's a repeat of the 7th Cavalry following the Great Yellow Hair (another infamous braggart and liar!) off the cliff and over the edge of reality to..........
Doom.

Except on much much bigger terms.
IF Trump gets in and fails (again!!) it will likely mean the beginning of the end for us all.
Read your History Tomes Doug. You just proved you can (get it).

It has been said that 2024 will be a battle for the soul of the nation and so correct that is.
But it also comes down to a contest between one who appeals to the base instincts and savagery of the human animal vs one who tries to appeal to the better angels.
Time will tell.

Be wise be fair be sure be there.

Gargantuan news stories coming over the next 31days.

First - the Supreme ( the term being used ironically these days ) Court will be issuing 2 blockbuster actioned packed decisions.
One is the presidential immunity. After a battle Royale we will find out if a president of the United States can jail and assassinate people for personal reasons and be immune. In today’s country that takes the finest legal minds in the land to ponder over because they know how to understand the constitution oh so well.

Second - the abortion pill. Will that and other contraceptives be subject to illegality by the states just like abortion. So what will the conservative vanguards of freedom do with this one.

Decisions usually come down on Mondays so this morning we could get them.

July 11 is sentencing day for Trump. God help the judge and his family no matter what he does.

It is conceivable that Trump could be placed in the same VIP solitary cell occupied by his loyal cohort Alan Weisselberg. It is in a special are away from other inmates. If Weisselberg is still there they could be down the hall from each other. For real. Not making this up.

My understanding is that home confinement is not permitted under New York law.

Biden asks why Europe Didn't Just Arrest Conservative Candidates Before Election

POLITICS · JUN 10, 2024 ·

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As shockwaves continued to reverberate around the globe following sweeping victories for the European political right, U.S. President Joe Biden asked aides why Europe didn't just arrest the conservative candidates before the election.

As conservative candidates in multiple countries won by significant margins, the current American leader expressed surprise that the ruling globalist regimes didn't simply have their chief political rivals imprisoned.

"Why didn't they do… the thing?" Biden was overheard asking White House aides after learning about the election results in Europe. "It's simple, folks. When you've got an election coming up, and it looks like you're… looks like you're… you're about to… you're gonna… it looks like… not good, all you have to do is throw the fella in prison. Or the broad. Whatever. Arresting your opponents and putting them in prison is the easiest way to win elections. It's also… it's… anyway. Cheesegrater."

A White House insider disclosed that Biden had even placed phone calls to various leaders across Europe late last night to ask them why they hadn't just put their rivals in jail. "He was baffled," the anonymous source said. "He told them political enemies like Bannon and Navarro were or about to be locked up while political allies like Lois Lerner and Eric Holder were running around free for breaking the very same law. He was telling them that this is the second most important election strategy, with rigging the voting machines and stuffing ballot boxes and finding trucks with pallets of crates containing only votes for your guy as being the only things slightly more important."

At publishing time, the White House was reportedly hoping to schedule an impromptu trip for Biden to make a European tour to give lessons on how to weaponize your country's judicial system for political gain.

STUFF THAT IS REALLY AMAZING IF YOU ARE CURIOUS ABOUT SCIENCE

My news homepage has cutting edge science stories and i get feeds from online magazines like Mashable.
The new telescopes like Webb are so advanced that they use an infrared system that helps them to be able to analyze atmospheres on exoplanets so many light years away that your brain can explode from trying to process it. it has to do with spectrographs and spectrums of light when the planet passes in front of its sun....from the colors shown by the spectrum they analyze the chemical composition of the atmosphere.

This is now happening and it was what a lot of people were salivating over to see what would be learned.

It is now reported that an exoplanet has been located in the goldilocks zone of habitability from its star. it is i think 1.5 times the size of earth.
It has been determined that it has a lot of quality H2O and here is the unbelievable finding - it has an atmosphere containing the chemicals that microbes send into the atmosphere....This is very important..THAT IS LIFE....they will continue to analyze this planet and who knows what else can be discovered..

We now have this science and it is just beginning world wide. There are a few other giant advanced telescopes...it is just a matter of time i hope before an industrial atmosphere is found.on a planet..This is the stuff.

At least I open -your - posts but I am assuming 999999.999999% that your little article here is from a pseudo science quack and not a real life respected accredited scientis or engineer. So I see it but I ignore it.

Sorry. I insist upon living in a reality based world and those type of posts are always stuff from quacks.

Dr. Jason Lisle

Dr. Jason Lisle graduated summa cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University where he double-majored in physics and astronomy and minored in mathematics. He received his master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Dr. Lisle has done extensive research in solar astrophysics at JILA (Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics) using the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) spacecraft. His doctoral dissertation “Probing the Dynamics of Solar Supergranulation and Its Interaction with Magnetism” explored the nature of solar subsurface weather, convection, large-scale solar flows, and near-surface magnetism. Dr. Lisle’s scientific discoveries include the following: the detection of polar alignment of supergranulation, the cause of the large-scale disk convergence anomaly seen in correlation tracking of solar Doppler data, the detection of solar giant cell boundaries, and the cause of the “wavelike” characteristics seen in solar power spectra.

Dr. Lisle has also made contributions in the field of general relativity, having developed a novel technique for computing trajectories in the Schwarzschild metric with subsequent application in other metrics.

In addition to secular research, Dr. Lisle has written articles (and is also a reviewer) for the Answers in Genesis website, the Creation magazine and Answers magazine, as well as in-depth articles for the Journal of Creation (formerly TJ). He has been a reviewer/technical consultant for several books on the topic of creation astronomy; these include Refuting Compromise (by Dr. Jonathan Sarfati), Universe by Design (by Dr. Danny Faulkner), and Dismantling the Big Bang (by Dr. John Hartnett and Alex Williams). Dr. Lisle is a member of the Creation Research Society.

DR. Danny Faulkner

Dr. Danny Faulkner holds an MS in physics from Clemson University, an MA and a PhD in astronomy from Indiana University, and he taught at the University of South Carolina—Lancaster for over 26 years. He has published over 100 papers in various journals.

You left out that he is a Christian scientist. That’s what he is called by himself or others. Whatever he has learned or he thinks he has learned are used to prove his fundamentalist religious views or seen through that lens.

I do not take seriously what I call faith based science.
