Yah, open leagues just suck. I havent done but 1 ever and I have been strictly theme ever since
I'll never play another one. The people at the company argued with me that clones and having the same player on multiple teams is okay because people want to try things, but I think it's preposterous. Each player should only be on one team in each league. I'll bet lots of potential customers play one open league and see the clones and **** and just never come back.
You are absolutely right about this Savoy. At first glance, the clone thing and the site with it comes off as bizarre. I joined, but didn't play in a league for 5-6 years. It was only after I dug a little deeper did I develop some interest. Th site is as far from intuitive as it gets and the marketing sucks. Without creative and hardworking volunteer commissioners this site would be kaput.

Talking about basketball. Have no idea how other sports work here.

Does not work IRL, but works in the sim.

In the league rules, it states: *Designated scrubs CAN play limited minutes (but they will be bad enough that you wouldn't want to play them)

I confess to having no idea what this means, so hopefully the commish or someone who has experience in this league can explain...we will all have more minutes at our disposal than we know what to do with. Are we obligated to play a certain number of players? What is a scrub? I assumed we were just drafting teams and then doing whatever we wanted in terms of playing time...

Hi, once you feel you can reach the minimum 19,680 minutes, anyone can elect to use any or all of the 4 designated scrubs. The commish will name those players sometime before the end of the draft but they are so bad you wouldn’t want to play them. Late in the draft it can be a struggle for some people to find any decent players left so instead of holding up the draft, they post “Scrubs” instead of an actual real players name.

Thanks!

Several guys I had on my lists were taken by others, but I haven't lost any of my planned picks at the last second as what usually happens in drafts. I still see good players out there, I have 2 right no that I'd love to get, but there will be 33 picks made before I am up again, so I'm sure I will lose one or both of them.

So I finished my first league (Open) at 37-45, 7th place in my conference, so no playoffs. I ended on a 5 game winning streak including 3 upsets. I did have a positive point differential at +0.6 per game. I was +6 rebounds per game, and +6 offensive rebounds per game. I averaged 31 assists per game with no clones, so that was strong. I also had fewer turnovers, slightly more steals, and slightly more blocks than my opponents. Pretty good for playing against multiple LeBrons and Stcktons on pretty much every team that was better than me,.

Here's the league if anyone is interested.

amerk, Robinzine does have great numbers, although his defense (33) is ****. Still, a great pickup at this stage of the draft.

rmarsh....Ratleff is a vg pick. I had him rated a 6th rounder, but I had a lot more needs than at SG/SF.

savoy....sorry you had to deal with the Open League play. I have never been able to bring myself to play basketball or baseball where they allow clones and when I read about the state farm assist cheat, I pretty much have stayed away from any league that doesn't have an assist cap.

I would really love to see someone run a league where there's a team assist, team rebound and 3 point attempt cap. Kind of tired of all these teams that shoot 20+ three's a game. Would rather see league's that appreciate the value of the Moncrief's, Gervin's, Worthy's, etc...

20+ threes is nothing these days. There are games now all the time where teams shoot 40 and 50 threes. It's simple math. 33% on threes equals 50% on twos, so if you're shooting 35% on threes you're doing great, and the guys now who shoot 40% on threes are scoring 12 points on every 10 possessions. Same as 60% on twos. There were 86 threes taken last night, 45 and 41. Personally I hate it. It's boring to watch all the penetrating and kicking out for open threes.

With a league like this there's no reason to put any limits on anything. There's only a few really great players available, and they will all be gone before the first round is over. Nobody is going to get more than one of them. But they do have to fix the assists problem in the sim. No way you can have more than 2 guys on a team with real high assist totals because there's only one ball. It's ludicrous when teams have 2 Stocktons each getting like 12 assists a game. Could never happen in a real game. Historically if you check teams stats it comes out to every 5 extra team assists equals one extra basket.

There were players on the clone teams in my Open League who shot like 75% for the season with a lot of shot attempts because of the clones with all the assists. It's preposterous. The sim must be set to have everyubody average around what their real life assist numbers were, but the only guys who can really get a load of assists are the main one or two ball handlers on a team. There's one team that had 2 Stocktons, 2 LeBrons and one Magic and Draymond Green. Those 6 players take up almost all of the minutes and the team averaged 42.7 assists per game and shot 67% as a team, 45% on threes. They tailed off a bit in the second half and ended up 75-7 for the season. Murph's team, but the way.

Happy with my squad - invite commentary from the savants on here - we like def, reb and sharing the ball

PG - Buckner-Art Williams-Wohl
SG - Riordan-(Player to be named - possibly the HAWK)
SF - HAWK-Tolson
PF - Barnes-George L Johnson (or Fox)
C - Cowens-Fox

I invite feedback - criticism doesn't bother me - I like the NBA and like to learn
