My understanding is that an IUD prevents a fertilized egg from implanting itself to the womb. Which means post conception.
But, as a man, I could very well be wrong on the issues of female reproductive health and planned childbirth and rearing.
Thus, why I maintain I should have NO SAY in your daughters reproductive decisions.
You are very well entitled to that belief, but I will disagree. I think because another life is involved and we are literally talking about life or death, everyone has a moral obligation to speak up. I liken it to if you saw a mother or father abusing their child, you should say something. It's not your child and I avoid at all costs giving parenting advice unless specifically asked, but I definitely would speak out if a parent were beating or starving their children.
No rational person would say "Well, I don't like it, but it's their choice how they want to raise their child" when it comes to a situation like that.
IF'n we were to substitute a dog owner and his dog (in place of the child) in your scenario/example, I'll bet I can make you understand my view.
I can CLEARLY judge abuse of a dog If'n I witness it, and I WOULD take action, within my ability which would be at least somewhat aggressive in terms of my intervention.
In the human situation, my ability to judge "abuse" HAS TO BE somewhat restrained as I am intruding into a Parental "rights" area unwarranted without CLEAR PROOF of (legal) abuse. NO room for my personal judgmental error.
But abuse of a dog. That's much easier for me to discern and I don't tolerate it.
