Oil Futures Pass $130 Barrel Threshold Against Possibility of Russian Oil Ban

| Sundance | 624 Comments

This is not good for working class Americans, not good at all. With gas prices already jumping, oil futures have now eclipsed a 15-year high and the outlook does not look good.

(MSM) – […] West Texas Intermediate crude futures, the U.S. oil benchmark, traded 8% higher to above $125 a barrel, the highest since July 2008. At one point the price rose to $130.50 Sunday evening before retreating.

The international benchmark, Brent crude, traded 9% higher to $128.60, also the highest price seen since 2008. Brent hit a high of $139.13 at one point overnight.

“Oil is rising on the prospect for a full embargo of Russian oil and products,” said John Kilduff of Again Capital. “Already high gasoline prices are going to keep going up in a jarring fashion. Prices in some states will be pushing $5 pretty quickly.” (read more)

What was the last gas price in your neighborhood?

Better but break it down a little and give some analysis and insight. Even though I strenuously disagree with much of your opinions on some issues of science I really do know from your posts that you are a really smart guy.

This is not bullshit or platitudes. I really mean what I say.

BLM, Antifa Activists Convicted of Arson After Attempting to Frame Proud Boys for Their Own Crimes

Mia Cathell, The Post Millennial, March 4, 2022

A group of Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioters were convicted on federal charges after attempting to frame the Proud Boys for a series of vandalism and arson attacks the far-left extremists carried out on Atlanta police vehicles and United States Postal Service property during the lead up to the 2020 presidential election.

John Wesley Wade, 35, Ellie Melvin Brett, 37, and Vida Jones, 19, were arrested in late October 2020 on federal charges in connection to the string of incidents.

The suspects tried to frame the Proud Boys by leaving notes near the sites of vandalism that read “Stand By,” a reference to when former President Donald Trump told the right-wing group to “stand back and stand by” after he was asked to condemn white supremacist militias during the first 2020 presidential debate.

At around 12:50 am on Oct. 2, 2020, several fires were set at the West End Post Office located at 848 Oglethorpe Avenue. One fire was set within a bin of mail on the loading dock of the Post Office building itself, destroying much of the mail and damaging other property in the possession of the US Postal Service. The other fires damaged five USPS vehicles that were parked in the secure, enclosed parking area.

The attack was one of at least seven related arson and vandalism incidents directed at law enforcement, a bank, and other government entities that occurred around the Atlanta metropolitan area between Sept. 30, 2020, and Oct. 2, 2020.

At around 10:49 pm on Sept. 30, 2020, in the parking lot of a Walmart located at 835 M.L.K. Jr. Drive, the window of an Atlanta Police Department (APD) patrol vehicle was smashed with a brick with a note wrapped around it.

{snip}

Law enforcement recovered the brick and note from the scene. The note mentioned Election Day and the date the Electoral College was to meet.

The note also included the phrase “stand by.” The note’s contents were similar to messaging depicted on an Instagram account (@nofaithlesselector) associated with Brett. According to the Oct. 27, 2020, criminal complaint, in one Instagram video, Brett, wearing the same two-tone jacket, stated: “Proud boys stand by.”

At approximately 11:46 pm on Sept. 30, 2020, about an hour after the first incident, another brick with a note attached was thrown through the window of a Wells Fargo Bank at 240 Peachtree Street in Atlanta. The note on the brick referenced the Electoral College and again included the phrase “stand by.” {snip}

At around 1:33 am on Oct. 1, 2020, shortly after the second incident, the window of another marked APD vehicle parked outside a residence was smashed with a brick. The vandalism was a few blocks from the first incident. No note was left.

After the three brick incidents, the incidents escalated to include arsons the next night. The suspects filmed the fires and posted the videos to social media.

The first arson attack, now including Jones, occurred overnight on Oct. 1, 2020, when fire was lit to damage a marked Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) police patrol vehicle that was parked at the MARTA Ashby Transit Station located at 65 Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard in Atlanta.

Within two hours after the fourth incident, several fires were set at the West End Post Office residing on Oglethorpe Avenue. The multiple fires damaged five USPS vehicles and destroyed mail in a bin on the post office’s loading dock.

{snip}

At about 2:30 am on Oct. 2, 2020, fire was also set to damage two East Point Public Works Department vehicles parked in a City of East Point parking area near 1659 Linwood Avenue and McGee Way in East Point, Georgia.

One of the vehicles, law enforcement recovered a brick that had been smashed through one of the car’s windows. A note was found on the ground near one of the vehicles. In the top right corner of the note was a list of states next to their number of electoral votes. {snip}

{snip}

Then around 3:11 am on Oct. 2, 2020, within an hour of the sixth incident, a MARTA Police vehicle was vandalized and set on fire at the West End MARTA station {snip}

{snip}

The Fulton County District Attorney had announced back in January that Wade and two other suspects were indicted for setting fire to the Wendy’s restaurant located on University Avenue in southwest Atlanta on June 13, 2020.

Your Honor, CO2 Is Not A Pollutant

Gregory Wrightstone, Human Events | Mar 7, 2022 | Commentary | 4

Is carbon dioxide — two pounds of which each of us exhales daily — a pollutant? And are catastrophes increasing as a result of higher concentrations of the gas? Physics — along with a few other branches of science — says no.

Nonetheless, in a landmark 2007 Supreme Court ruling, the EPA concluded that it has the authority to regulate greenhouse gases, setting off a cascade of regulatory actions that target fossil fuels as emitters of a dangerous gas and promoting “green” energy as the solution. This ruling has become known as the “Endangerment Finding” and it determined that carbon dioxide was a “pollutant” that was dangerously warming the atmosphere and oceans, leading to climate catastrophe.

Now, the current Supreme Court is set to review the 15-year-old finding Feb. 28. Never mind that, according to Clean Air Act co-author John Dingell, Congress never intended for EPA to regulate greenhouse gases.

Setting aside legalistic arguments as to whether Congress or the EPA has the authority to make such decisions, the science is clear: Increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will not lead to the catastrophic consequences that the global warming enthusiasts predict. In fact, a recent Louisiana judge dictated that the EPA needs to use realistic metrics when evaluating the costs or benefits of more CO2. Using a higher, real-world discount rate mandated by Congress reveals that the “social cost of carbon” from increasing carbon dioxide emissions is a net benefit to society. That is correct. More CO2 benefits society and the peoples of the Earth.

The Earth’s atmosphere has warmed about one degree Celsius since 1850, and CO2 has increased approximately 130 parts-per-million since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution to about 415 ppm today This combination of modest warming and a rise in atmospheric CO2 has provided a huge benefit to the Earth’s ecosystems and to humanity.

Contrary to predictions of ever-increasing catastrophes and harm to humanity, quite the opposite is occurring. By virtually every metric the planet’s ecosystems are improving and we are enjoying those benefits.

Deserts are shrinking, the bulk of the planet is enjoying re-forestation not de-forestation, vegetation is exploding across all ecological niches, natural disasters have been in a twenty-year decline, hurricanes are not increasing, the strongest tornadoes are in decline, and our air and water are cleaner today than in modern history. The majority of North American heat records were set 90 to 100 years ago. Where is the crisis? There is none.

That more carbon dioxide is fueling plant growth is accepted as fact by all parties in the climate debate (and yes, Virginia, there IS a debate). Modest warming is providing longer growing seasons in temperate climes, assisting in the cultivation and harvesting of more food. That increase in crop growth is turbocharged by the CO2 fertilization effect. With carbon dioxide increasing in recent decades, there have been significant improvements in crop harvests and an overall greening of Earth. Greenhouses add carbon dioxide to enhance production.

It is accepted by experts on both sides of the issue that carbon dioxide retains small amounts of solar radiation — heat — that otherwise would escape into outer space. Proponents of catastrophic man-made warming exaggerate this phenomenon, using unlikely and unsupportable high-end projections of the warming effect to achieve extreme heat scenarios of the future.

Whatever the cause of the temperature increases of the last 300 years, there is no need to fear carbon dioxide’s future greenhouse effect because the gas at the current concentration of approximately 400 parts per million has nearly reached its peak potency. Even if the gas were to double, the effect would be a mere one degree Celsius of warming— hardly an emergency.

A ruling by the Supreme Court to roll back the Endangerment Finding would simply be a ruling that “follows the science” and recognizes the important contributions that more CO2 is having on the planet’s health and to the human condition.

Gregory Wrightstone is executive director of the CO2 Coalition, Arlington, Va., an organization of more than 80 scientists and researchers.

Doug, I took a look at your 2 articles.
These are the only 2 I will comment on.
If you really do have any critical thinking chops or integrity in providing information you will have to deal with 2 problems.

1. Re the First Article - Only right wing publications are saying they were BLM or Antifa. It has otherwise never been alleged anywhere. Not by police and not by the District Attorney’s office and not by federal authorities and not by any Atlanta newspaper where it surely would have been raised.
When you have GIGO reporting you should not treat it as gospel.

2. Re Second Article- Highly Misleading. You don’t attribute the commentary to the actual publication. The Time magazine was only used in the publication in order to mock it. The actual publication is a right wing mag or rag depending on who is judging called GOPUSA.

You are going to have to wake up a lot earlier to get this stuff by me.

Donald Trump has some things your current spineless President does NOT have. Courage, Smarts, and a love for his country. and he is a whole lot smarter than Obumma or Biden..

Biden is a modern day Neville Chamberlain. Russia and China know this. Neville tried to appease the Nazis.. and the REAL leader (Churchill) SAID:

"You don't negotiate peace with a Lion when it has your head in it's mouth"

I hope that doesn't go over your heads

The biggest threat to the US of A is it's own government.

Is THIS enough to show you the level of absolute stupidity of this clown…

“Donald Trump has some things your current spineless President does NOT have. Courage, Smarts, and a love for his country. and he is a whole lot smarter than Obumma or Biden..”

Trump has “smarts.”

That’s a laugh riot. Trump is a ******* MORON.

Yup. It pretty much says it all. I don't even think ANYONE who has EVER actually met Trump (or can actually use critical thinking skills!!) has ever used the word "smart" and Trump in conjunction with each other.

Bias caused animosity is generally revealing of a VERY TINY intellect.
It SURE IS in this case!!
