Could you enumerate the extreme measures and consequent damages to which you're referring?
The economic damage of the pandemic has been significantly smaller than I anticipated. Looking at the long-term trends, it's barely a blip domestically. So that's not a significant harm.
Vaccine effects are obviously less severe than live viral infection effects. Any arguments based on vaccine side effects are clear evidence that the people making them are either wildly ignorant or lack critical thinking skills. The numbers here are unambiguous. The vaccine is safer than the virus. Before the vaccine existed, without serious lockdowns the virus spread like wildfire. Without the vaccine everyone would eventually have gotten the virus. We may eventually still all get it, but vaccinated people appear to have fewer long-term effects and much lower mortality rates. So again, any argument that the vaccine is a "harm" is blatant nonsense.
So what's the damage the "extreme measures" have generated? I know the one I'm worried about is educational achievement. Basically a full year of remote school for most students. Whenever I look at places like this forum, I'm smacked in the face by how poorly-educated the American populace is even after the full, normal 13-year program. I hope we don't wind up with a whole generation even more ignorant than you covid truthers.
