cool but non essential improvements with the transfers

I do think it is important to waive the four application limit for folks who are fired. They need to be allowed to apply until they get a gig - lest they strike out and bail on the game or that world.

I would have to agree with the 4 application max....I can't see why there needs to be a limit. If a coach wants to apply to 20 jobs let him apply.

Quick question on the firing list. Syracuse Allen was one of the 10 in question but Benis has only been there for 4 seasons. According to the logic, you don't get evaluated until Season 7.

By the way, I like the idea and logic. I do have a thought to keep bad coaches from ruining another school. If you get fired from a tier, you can't get your next job with a team with the same tier or better. I thought about the rating side but if a low school with a good rating comes open, they may choose to hire an experienced coach to take over their lower program. That happens all the time in Low D1.
The other option if you don't want to worry about team ratings or tiers in Job applicaitons is to either add a "fired" penalty that is reduced each year, maybe for 3 seasons. Year 1 3*-100, Year 2 2*-100, Year 3 -100, Year 4 0 penalty.

So we're still basing the tier system on the old baseline prestige?

No other way to do it. The point is to balance the benefit you get of the higher baseline prestige with higher expectations. Those jobs are typically seen as more desirable.

Perhaps we could get an update to baseline prestige in the future and the tiers would adjust accordingly

Maybe we can just remove the entire premise of Baseline Prestige... They're all wrong, and made up fairy tale anyways...

Or rather, instead of having such a large gap, have tiers... We all know power 5 conf schools. Make them B or B+, well known Mid Major can be C+ or B-, and the lesser schools C- or C... That way people still have to perform to remain in the As, and not just suck for 5 years and still maintain an A prestige... It affects so much at those levels.

The difference between the top schools, and the bottom of the barrel is so vast that it's unrealistic... You can't possibly even sneak into the NT with a low tier school without playing D2 with Sims for the first 6 seasons

It should be much easier to make the NT in a lower-tier conference surrounded by sims. By your 3rd season you should be close to dominating those sims in every game. If you're not winning every CT by your 4th season, then you've still got a lot to learn about the fundamentals of the game (things you typically learn in your journey through D3 an D2).

I'm not trying to say that someone struggling in lower-tier D1 doesn't belong there, but "you can't possibly even sneak into the NT with a low tier school" is pretty far from the reality for most coaches. Now, you're probably not going to go very far in the NT, for the reasons which you stated. I don't think making the NT is all that difficult though.

You can't suck and keep an A prestige. Look at my Syracuse team.

And if anything, the gap between top schools and bottom schools is MUCH MUCH bigger in real life than in HD. If that's what you meant by realistic.

if you're a good coach, you can do very well at a D prestige baseline school. I've done it. And many others have too.

Uh oh. Our daily argument found its way to the forums!

You don't think kids are still dying to go to UNC or Illinois (don't count this season cuz they had ONE good year in the last 15 or so!)? Or even Indiana? Those schools still get big time recruits in real life even after sucking for a period of time. Is "real life" style the answer? No, not necessarily. But even if we considered this proposal, they'd have to scrap EVERYTHING they just worked on with firings and start over from scratch with a new game basically. I don't think that's a good idea to do, even if we came up with a "perfect" idea. We're marching one direction. Changing it all again would just create a mess

Better for the game to make a narrow change in firings.

If baseline prestige warrants a refresh, I would urge that be a separate project, thought through with care

I agree with this. Don't scope creep the project. Adjusting the firing in a way that you can actually get fired would be a start. In the current version, I don't know what you have to do to get fired. I have never seen anyone be that bad. Even that guy SIMMY keeps his job forever.

Let's focus the code review on figuring out why teams with less then 7 seasons made the fired list and move on. Since second season recruiting your first year is a waste, the 7 season threshold seems fine. I might want to see a six season in the Tier1 schools.

so, when is this launching?

Great job developers - I appreciate all the thought and hard work going into keeping this fun.
