Next up: Dylan
How can you possibly leave "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" off of this list?

I consider it top 10.

Also overlooked: Dead Flowers Torn and Frayed

IMO "Shattered" is a mistake. Sounds like they needed filler.
Can't You Hear Me Knocking is a great song. It's on most critics' lists of the top 10 or 20 Stones recordings. But much as I admire it, I don't particularly like it, so I had to be true to my own taste. Sounds to me like what it was -- an extended funky Santana-esque jam that they accidentally recorded after they thought the tape had stopped rolling. I much prefer the Stones' jam during the Sympathy for the Devil recording sessions in 68, the one excerpted in Jean-Luc Godard's otherwise dreadful film One Plus One. Dead Flowers another good song that I don't much like. Faraway Eyes, Loving Cup and Torn and Frayed could have easily made the list.

Totally agree that you rated Oh Darling so highly. Often overlooked, I think it's one of Paul's finest vocal performances.

I saw him at CitiField a few years back and he brought the house down with an acoustic piano solo version.

Don't know about Strawberry Fields as #1 though...

Dino and his lists.............. Beatles chatter............. oh well.

Dino's just foolin' y'all.
His list is upside down.
The top ten is actually the bottom 10, thus his list actually begins with #11.
Then it makes more sense!

This is a given, no?

It's kinda ironic IMO, you being such a big Sir Paul (solo) fan, but it seems your favorite Beatle stuff is John's.??
For George I gotta say that "While My Guitar" should be higher (his best IMO) and I think Isn't It a Pity is better than My Sweet Lord.
But I gotta agree with your comments on I'm Carrying--------- that one is freaking awesome.
Last point on this.
I didn't closely examine the list. It makes my head hurt.............BUT did you put Paul's "Too Many People" near the top? And include "Dear Boy"?
If not I claim bogus. LOL
6/14/2021 10:50 AM
"I'm Carrying" was on the "Londontown" LP, no? I think so and that's prolly why it's less known/appreciated. If I remember right Londontown wasn't all that well received back in the day. I never got why. I always liked it.

if I could only add another 50.
I had 38 out of 100 from the solo catalogue.
Great list, dino. Love seeing Back in the USSR in the top 10. Lady Madonna at #3 -- wow. See how they run. And props for including the brilliant I Me Mine. Lots of great George Harrison B sides that could have made my Top 100 -- For You Blue, Old Brown Shoe, maybe even Not Guilty.
Thanks - lots of fun.
one song I recommend listening to if one never heard it is the Wings song - I’m Carrying.
achingly beautiful song that would have been a classic
if it was on the White Album. It’s very special.

same for Little Lamb/ Dragonfly
Totally agree that you rated Oh Darling so highly. Often overlooked, I think it's one of Paul's finest vocal performances.

I saw him at CitiField a few years back and he brought the house down with an acoustic piano solo version.

Don't know about Strawberry Fields as #1 though...
I’m glad you agree on oh darling. He really does belt it out and it is such a great rock and roll song - it’s got 50s with great 60s Beatles guitar crunch. Let me roll it was a great sequel.

where would you put strawberry fields on your list.
Thunder had it highly regarded too - he had it second.

I actually prefer Dylan's Tambourine Man to the Byrds' -- more soulful, less poppy. But great list, thunder. Some of my personal faves are in your bottom 20 (One More Cup of Coffee, You Ain't Going Nowhere, The Man in Me) but I can't think of many that I really like that you've left out completely. Maybe one from 20 year old Bob's first album, Song to Woody. Seems incredible he was ever 20!
