You make a couple decent observations, a couple overblown, a couple simply incorrect or taken out of context.
I didn't say many of these acts will be looked back on fondly 50 years from now as industry icons, not like dozens from that long ago can be thought of today. In fact, most of today's music is less stellar than their predecessors. I'll give you that if it was part of your inference. 25 years from now no kid is gonna be asking their dad or grandma to tell tales of Post Malone.
I simply offered a couple of moments in time that may or may not last in their body of work. Not too dissimilar to a 1-hit wonder from the 40's that was fun for a day and can still be ordered in compilation sets even though you forget the artist's name.
I'm not predicting how good or rich they'll all be. Except for the occasional haha sideshow, most of the contestants we see are already the Top10% from those screened to proceed to the judges, so I'm guessing they can at least hold their own at karaoke.
Daughtry is indeed filthy rich, and had a headstart on that wealth by as an Idol non-winner not temporarily being chocked-held by The Contract. He also advocates for other's social media exposure and other platforms where they control more of the receipts and released material. I'm torn about this; they'll get paid today and maybe tomorrow and hope/expect a forever endeavor of same which in 99.99% won't materialize, and I don't think many of them will have much staying power, much less actual talent to buzz about.
I go to the college world series most years. Most of best players on most of the best teams will be offered a 10-cent contract, and 10-years from now maybe 1 will be an MLB all-star regular. You would deny me today's enjoyment because none of them will be Mike Trout ? Maybe you like local community art exhibits. I wouldn't tell you they suck cuz they won't produce a Picasso.
