I hate to do it but I have to say I agree with all3 here. If everyone pays a flat rate of say 15% of their household income, with no available loopholes or deductions, how is that unfair? If my household makes $75,000 a year we would pay $11,250 in taxes. If your household makes $750,000 a year, you would pay $112,500 . What is unfair about that?

I actually wouldn't necessarily classify that system as unfair. I would say it's inefficient. And I would argue that a non-flat income tax is just as fair.

The answer is the US Gov't has used the Income Tax Code to "influence" behavior (again) for (like) forever.
They institute deductions to encourage MONEY to go into those specific investment types.
For decades (for example) it was home ownership.

And, there isn't enough tax revenue available without taxing the rich at higher levels IF you want to except the poorest from taxes, which is current policy.

Why should the poorest be exempt from paying their fair share? Do they not get the benefits of living in this Country?

This is where the problem is - determining "fair share".
If I pay 25 or 30%, why should someone else's "fair share" be 45 or 50%? That doesn't seem "fair at all.
Same rate for everyone is "fair". Eliminate ALL loopholes.

And 15% of 100 grand is a lot more for that person then 15 million from 100 million.

with a flat tax they would pay, but then with welfare etc they would get it back and then some

why not cut out the middleman for efficiency

the biggest thing is the rich shunt income into nontaxable streams

why a CEO apologizes for a bad year by promising to work for a dollar next year
