Do you know anyone with school aged kids who’s unsure whether they will vote for Biden? Tell them the reason their kids didn’t finish the last school year was the virus, but the reason their kids won’t start the new school year is Donald Trump.
Facts be damned again. MAYBE Trump's words and actions have made the virus more deadly and widespread than it would have been under another POTUS. We'll never know. That's all speculation. What we do know is that millions of Americans made their own personal decision to blow-off (and continue to blow-off) the severity of the virus by walking around without masks and by holding gatherings they shouldn't. Let's put the blame everywhere it belongs. This all goes back to taking responsibility for one's own actions instead of blaming someone, or something, for them. Not sure why Dems. want to try to take credit for everything good, yet everything bad they try to say .
Trump did not create the virus but he has done little, if anything to halt the spread. yes, Americans are a stubborn lot, and no matter what, some of them would refuse to use common sense and wear masks or socially distance. Do you honestly think that if the POTUS had, from the very start, admitted how serious this was, always worn a mask in public, always promoted social distancing, that there wouldn't be more Americans who were willing to do that too? Instead he downplayed the virus, never wore a mask in public (at least not until recently), promoted his rallies were no one was wearing a mask or socially distancing. That made a lot of people think that the POTUS says its nothing, so it must be nothing.

I mean, really..how can you defend Trump calling off the GOP convention because it is too dangerous, yet pushing for opening of schools at the same time?
Something like 94% of democrats and 52% of republicans have been wearing masks. People who live in reality know why it's still so bad here.

I know the folks who spontaneously combusted because Bill Clinton talked to AG Lynch on the tarmac about their grandkids for five minutes are going to have opinions about Barr admitting to talking to Trump about his re-election campaign, right?
7/28/2020 12:48 PM
Oh, and Trump is still tweeting nonsense about that hydroxocloriquine and Fauci being wrong.

Yeah, he shouldn't get any blame, all. Good take. Totally fair and reality based, not magical thinking at all.

Bob, why would we deport people who we let in to work? Wouldn't that just cost us money in the long run? Why not let them stay, legally?
I never used the word deport, I'm fairly certain.

We let in 1000's NOW for various and assorted tasks Americans won't DO for the $$ paid for the task.
Much of your produce would be double without migrant labor.
Other occupations, as well.
I say make that process easier, and safer for US!

Let them do what they've always done. Make $$$, send some of it back home to family and enjoy living and working in the USA IF they choose to do so.
IF they like it here, and want to stay, let them APPLY for citizenship (and permanent entry). Every person gets the same opportunity for entry AND those who have demonstrated ability to abide our Laws and integrate already should have preference over "initial entries".
And, as I stated, our leader(s) (POTUS?) SHOULD have the ability to amend entry regulations as required by any then-current situations. (such as serious population decline)

But, we no longer need (or have physical space for) countless immigrants to populate an Anglo-Saxon free Continent needing taming. My tongue is IN CHEEK!

In that respect I agree with Trump's BS slogan. America First. BUT, I'm talking about America the Beautiful, our Land, our Continent, our SPACE!
We NEED to preserve what little of it we have left.............for the future of (hopefully) countless generations!
We certainly don't need to crowd more and more folks into ever shrinking sustainable habitats.
FACT. WE have MORE mouths needing water living at present in the SW than we have long term sustainable water supply.

Why in hell we would want to bring in more mouths and breeders requiring more and more water?

It seems like your argument on immigration relies on the idea that America is already overpopulated/will be should we bring in more immigrants. I have never seen any evidence of this. If you have any, I'd love to see it.

https://www.vox.com/the-big-idea/2017/12/12/16766872/overpopulation-exaggerated-concern-climate-change-world-population

If we ever do hit a point where America becomes overpopulated, of course we shouldn't accept more immigrants. And of course we need to do more to make living spaces sustainable (if we keep it up, much of America might not even he habitable by the time immigrants start to crowd the place).

The only other issue I have with your plan would be the regulation costs that might be associated with keeping track of immigrants before they apply for citizenship. I think it would make a lot more sense to have them go through a citizenship process/green card as soon as possible, while still making sure they are good people and not terrorists or whatever. I guess I'm kind of confused about your timeline; what specific changes would you make and how long must they be here before they get to apply for citizenship?

Most Trump supporters do not live in reality. If they did, they would not be Trump supporters.

Who the hell (other than maybe him) ever said Trump shouldn't get any blame?! Are you that freakin' stupid, or just that desperate to argue?
THIS is exactly the kind of word-twisting and fabrication I talk about so often. People hate Trump so much, they will say and/or do anything, regardless of how dumb it makes them look.

I'm responding to you constantly downplaying the president constantly downplaying the pandemic that's killed 150k in 5 months. You still downplay.

Trump essentially equated the opinion of Fauci with a woman who practices in a strip mall and posts videos about alien Nephilim stealing souls with sex dreams and you downplay it.

What the hell are you reading? How many times have I posted that I think Trump has handled the pandemic poorly? (MANY) How many times have I posted that I think he's handled it well? (NONE) I post that the American people ultimately make their own decisions and should be held at least somewhat accountable too. If in some distorted way fits your definition of "downplaying", then amuse yourself with it.
7/29/2020 11:07 AM
Yes, that's downplaying just how bad he's handled it and passing off the blame of his leadership.

https://www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2020/07/john-roberts-has-made-his-decision-now-let-him-enforce-it

He's defying Supreme Court decisions now, too. Defend this one too.

YES! That's downplaying it. Because no matter how "poorly" you think he handled it, you still think he did a good enough job to earn your vote again this November.

Personally, I think his handling of the Pandemic is disqualifying to any reasonable person.

no agreement here, all3...by saying the American people are stubborn and shifting the blame to them, you ARE downplaying Trump's role. Yes, Americans are stubborn and deserve some of the blame, but Trump deserves a large share as well.

Again, it’s something like 94% democrats wearing masks, 54% republicans wearing masks. Gee, what oh what could be a reason republicans aren’t wearing masks as much?
