If Trump wins re-election it's going to have a lot to do with people like coreander. Anyone who doubts the truth of that should spend a little time reading GuitarGuy's posts. Arguably the defining characteristic of Trump supporters is a crippling fear of the young radical left.
I truly think that fear is much more wide-spread than most come close to realizing. I mean, think about a Country where even half of this loon's beliefs are in place.

Hey newby, how long you think your home goes without being looted and possibly burned to the ground with no Police?

What do you think men in your neighborhood will do to your Mom (and any sisters) with no Police?

That's been the case since the beginning of the country with older more conservative people aghast at what the younger generation does and thinks.

It doesn't hold water after Bernie loses two straight primaries to centrist democrats and doesn't excuse republicans nominating and voting for Trump.

Biden is a Republican lite. We can still make this happen. Defund the police. Defund the convention. Bernie 2020!! No more corporate politics! No more old white men running this country!
There it is. Well, go **** yourself Yale. I've seen this movie too many times.

The first sentence isn't wrong. Still, I stand by the idea that even if people like coreander didn't exist, people on the right would lie and pretend they do. The narrative that the "radical left" is taking over the Democratic party is a myth.

Also, yes. Fascists tend to use fear of socialists to their advantage. It's a good strategy. I don't blame the socialists.

Yea, BUT the problem is that THEY don't think it's a myth. THEY believe it's true.

That was ONE of the big fears of HRC. That She would gladly lead the "charge" to these progressive policies, some of which are policies of the tontos within the land like Salamander.

Hopefully, (for the Dems. AND the Country) Biden is seen as more of a moderate centrist.
I actually think that is so. Biden is NOT a radical change type of guy.
You can expect a significant tack towards the "left" in a Biden admin. but NO big deal policies of drastic change.
Unless things go so well, he sees a second term likely.
I really think that Biden will be a one termer..................perhaps of his OWN volition.
Handpick his VP. Decide NOT to run for re-election. Paving the way for his VP.
That's why I consider his VP choice so critical.
That may get (or lose) my vote!

This is well off to the side, but you keep referring to Trump supporters as fascists.

I took a little bit of introductory political theory in college (I had an IR second major) and it was my understanding that while there is a lot of disagreement over how precisely to define fascism, most would agree that it differs from far-right authoritarianism primarily in that fascists are economic interventionists. I think Trump supporters are largely against anything resembling a command economy. So wouldn't that just make them right-wing authoritarians? Fascists is much more pejorative, and I can see why you'd want to use it, but I'm not convinced it fits.

I'm not sure that every fascist supports that, but I guess if we really want to get technical, we can call them right-wing authoritarians. I'm fairly certain that fascists can exist across a wide spectrum of economic policies. Most modern-day ones don't really seem to care. You are correct that I use 'fascist' because it sounds better. It emphasizes how far the modern Republican Party has walked away from, say, strikeout's beliefs.

^^^^^ someone please explain to me why this isn't impeachable.

Trumpies? Can you defend this? I'm legitimately curious how you can rationalize still voting for him after this statement, or even a refusal to vote for Biden.

What did the president’s team think of the speech? One person called it a “disaster.”

“Our country is on fire, people are out of work and scared and he’s talking about ramps and water.”

In an Oval Office interview with Axios on Friday, President Trump suggested he's had second thoughts about his decision to recognize Juan Guaidó as the legitimate leader of Venezuela and said he is open to meeting with dictator Nicolás Maduro.

Driving the news: Asked whether he would meet with Maduro, Trump said, "I would maybe think about that. ... Maduro would like to meet. And I'm never opposed to meetings — you know, rarely opposed to meetings.

I didn't realize Trump was a tankie.
