You are damn right. It's actually capitalism by the way. Cortez and Sanders (and I) are social democrats, which is capitalism with lots of social programs to help the lower class.

These people call themselves democratic socialists. Assuming they appreciate the difference, which is a huge assumption, a socialist and a democratic socialist are miles apart ideologically.

That may be giving them too much credit, I fully admit.

If you don't get the difference, here's a quick summary.

A true Socialist will read Karl Marx and have an orgasm. Fair enough.

Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Howard Schultz, Jeff Bezos, etc., do NOT have that reaction. They are not socialists and would NEVER want Socialism implemented.

The labels themselves are somewhat irrelevant. For example, Trump is called a Republican but is really a Fascist that lacks the power to be an actual dictator.

Our government already incorporates socialist features through things like Medicare and social security. Politicians that think we should incorporate more socialist features are calling themselves DSA. They aren’t arguing for Stalin or Mao style communism.

OK. Ideological Socialism, as Marx defined it, is not what is being espoused by the power folks on the Left.

I appreciate your response because I tend to think of Socialism through the lens of Das Kapital.
