Someone falling for something Trump says should look a bit deeper

You should read the halt on purchases link there: Let me post it out for you:

The world’s biggest oilseed processor just confirmed one of the soybean market’s biggest fears: China has essentially stopped buying U.S. supplies amid the brewing trade war.

“Whatever they’re buying is non-U.S.,” Bunge Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Soren Schroder said in a telephone interview Wednesday. “They’re buying beans in Canada, in Brazil, mostly Brazil, but very deliberately not buying anything from the U.S.”

In a move that caught many in U.S. agriculture by surprise, China last month announced planned tariffs on American shipments of soybeans. As the market waited for the measure to take effect, there was some hope among traders and shippers alike that relations between the nations could ease in the meantime and the trade flow would continue. But that doesn’t seem to be the case, at least for now, according to Bunge.

It’s “very clear” that the trade tensions have already stopped China from buying U.S. supplies, Schroder said. “How long that will last, who knows? But so long as there is this big cloud of uncertainty, that’s likely to continue.”

Price volatility in farm goods has picked up in recent weeks as the saber-rattling between the U.S. and China intensifies. Other agricultural products caught up in the dispute include corn, pork and sorghum. Soybeans are the second-largest American crop and prices are heavily dependent on trade with the Asian nation, the world’s top importer.

In the two weeks ended April 19, China canceled a net 62,690 metric tons of U.S. soybean purchases for the marketing year that ends Aug. 31, U.S. Department of Agriculture datashow. At this time of year, South American countries typically complete their harvests and become the dominant shippers for several months. Brazil’s lead on global exports is expected to widen to a record in the 2017-2018 season as it sells 73.1 million tons abroad versus 56.2 million from the U.S., the USDA estimates.

Bunge has still been able to meet Chinese demand by filling shipments with supplies from outside the U.S., Schroder said. The White Plains, New York-based company has a large presence in South America.

So the Chinese cut 62,690 metric tons of soybean imports from the United States for the rest of the year? OMG!!!! I already told you WE SELL 37,000,000 METRIC TONS TO CHINA EACH YEAR!!!

You know how you know an article is crap... Look at the 6th 7th or 8th (in this case) paragraph and they will usually throw the contradictory fact in there like it's not a big deal.

Moy, I think you meant to post - You know how you know an article is crap... if it says something that shows Trump in even a slightly negative light, it is crap and fake news.
5/22/2018 6:36 PM
Good point Moy. Usually the FAKE NEWS headlines are total opposite of the truth. The truth is squeezed in a line or two near the end of the article. One of many liberal tactics used in their now very old and worn and tired playbook. YAWN! The left ran out of ideas 50 years ago.

Meanwhile: ANOTHER GREAT WEEK FOR TRUMP. DRAINING THE SWAMP. WINNING THE PEOPLE OVER! MAKING HISTORY AND AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Can you divide 62,920 by 37,000,000 for me?

It must be a YUUUUUGE number since they dedicated an entire article, maybe 15+ paragraphs on the subject of TRUMP, BAD!

Hell yeah!!!

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he will propose new tax cuts sometime prior to November, when Republicans look to hold on to their majorities in Congress in midterm elections.

Remember when Dems were touting their 16 point lead in this generic ballot poll:

Republicans hold a slim lead over Democrats in a generic ballot among registered voters, a new Reuters poll found, marking the first time the survey showed the GOP ahead in this election cycle.

The poll showed 38.1 percent of registered voters said they would vote for a Republican candidate if midterm elections were held today, compared to just under 37 percent who said they'd vote for a Democrat.

A Russian immigrant who is partners with President Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen struck a plea deal with prosecutors on Tuesday, potentially signaling he might turn against Cohen.

The New York Times reported lawyers for Evgeny Freidman were able to negotiate five years probation for their client in exchange for his cooperation. He was facing tax fraud and grand larceny charges that could have landed him in prison for the rest of his life.

The plea deal knocked the charges down to one count of evading taxes to the tune of $50,000.

Freidman and Cohen are longtime partners in a New York City taxi business. The Times noted Freidman will now help government prosecutors in state or federal investigations, which might be designed to force Cohen to talk to the feds about Trump.

And this is related to trump colluding with Russia to win an election, how? "POTENTIALLY signaling he might turn against Cohen" - gotta love that. Nothingburger, again. Just speculation by a media that's been wrong over and over again.

Hey Moy, you want to get rid of the "liberals" on this site? Post something negative about Trump. All the liberals will die of shock.

From the AP:

Data from the U.S. government data show that sales of soybeans have fallen from about 255,000 metric tons in the first week of April, when the trade dispute began, to just 7,900 in the week that ended April 26.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo acknowledged -- after prodding by lawmakers -- that he backs the finding by U.S. intelligence agencies that Russia meddled in the U.S. presidential campaign to hurt Hillary Clinton and ultimately help Donald Trump.

Pompeo, who previously was Trump's CIA director, was pressed by Democrats on whether he accepted that finding during testimony Wednesday before the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"Yes, sir," he said. But that was only after he initially said the judgment that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to help Trump win "was the least confirmed, that is, there was the least support for that" in the report issued by the CIA, the FBI and the National Security Agency in January 2017, a few weeks before Trump took office.

The findings continue to present an awkward dilemma for Trump's national security advisers, who seek to stand by the intelligence community even as the president frequently denounces the continuing investigation into Russian meddling by Special Counsel Robert Mueller as a "witch hunt" and assert that the Russians actually were working to help Clinton.

On Tuesday, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen professed ignorance when asked about the findings. "I do not believe that I've seen that conclusion that the specific intent was to help President Trump win, I'm not aware of that," she told reporters after briefing House members on cybersecurity concerns for this year's midterm elections. "But I do generally have no reason to doubt any intelligence assessment."

In a letter to Nielsen's department on Wednesday, Reps. Adam Schiff and Andre Carson, Democrats who serve on the House Intelligence Committee, cited the Department of Homeland Security's role in election security.

"It is critical for the public to know with confidence that the Department is relying on the objective intelligence work product and analysis, rather than any political sentiment, as it continues offering support for election security," they wrote.

The 2017 intelligence report by the CIA, the FBI and the National Security Agency assessed that "Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump's election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton and publicly contrasting her unfavorably to him. All three agencies agree with this judgment. CIA and FBI have high confidence in this judgment; NSA has moderate confidence."

But all three agencies said they had "high confidence" in the conclusion that Russia developed a "clear preference" for Trump.
