I'm back! Yes, I bought a season so I could post here again. seble, I wanted to reach out about this. I told this to norbert back in the day, but I would love nothing more than for you to make enhancements to the site that cause my tools to become obsolete. I'm happy to chat, show you my code, whatever can help make that a reality.

For your questions about what the tool does, I think a few people have summarized it quite fairly, and my tutorial videos also do a great job of showing off all the features. tronstellar's post in this thread also explains how I got distances for the tool.

On this topic, one thing that I'd like to suggest (I had also heavily suggested this many years ago) is the possibility of embracing 3rd party tools and creating a restful api that they can make use of. This community is full of people that want to create and do more, and depending on how many resources sportsHub is planning to devote to GD, they may be able to provide value back to the community more efficiently than you can.
Using my strategy to get data sucks to implement and is super fragile (as evidenced by the recent google analytics stuff). An api would allow creation of far more robust tools that don't break with every change. All that said, it's definitely your call, and I'd understand either way. edit - found the thread where I suggested this before (https://www.whatifsports.com/forums/Posts.aspx?topicID=427085)

And since we're also on the topic of cheating, let us not forget the original cheat...baking an advantage for your alma mater directly into the code. Classic JConte! If you haven't heard that story, then gather round the campfire later tonight.

genuvar - thanks for that summary. The only thing that has me curious is the distance of a recruit from other schools. I'm wondering how the app calculates that, given that it's not provided by the site.
There are some websites that will calculate a straight line distance between points; I'm guessing it feeds it that with the location info?

Also, from genuvar's post: "...submit recruit actions while you are away." - to me that is a little bit more than just a time saver. Those who don't use it either get a good night's sleep, or recruit at 3:00 am and are foggy the next day. Yatzr users can recruit every cycle and get their beauty sleep.
That is not true....you cannot schedule for multiple cycles...you can only do one..then walk away....

With this tool, can you schedule a recruting action for a cycle other than the current cycle?

Like, for example it's 2pm. Could I schedule some recruiting actions for the 3pm cycle and others for the 6pm cycle? If there was an option where you could send conditional actions (where it only sends the action if the player is red or yellow), that would be a pretty big advantage for recruiting against Sims especially but also humans that is not available within the game itself.
You cannot do if/then....but you can do it for different cycle....but ONLY ONE cycle...current or one future...but only one....not multiples.

The "backups" option on the search filter is also a huge advantage to people that use the tool.

This is actually true.. I agree with that.

what is the backups option

slack chat app ? There's a slack chat for GD? How come everyone doesn't know about this?

Since everyone doesn't know about this, you must be cheating because you use it.

Sounds like a bit of "collusion" doesn't it Bob? I've never heard of this thing before. First mention on the forums that I'm aware of....these cheating bastardz.

So much chatter about the recruit action scheduling! I'm honestly surprised people still use the scheduling feature. I made that way back when the first cycle was only 3 hours long. If you were busy in that 3 hours, you were kinda hosed because that first cycle is so important. My tool allowed these people to get their actions in on that cycle without being at their computer. A little while later, WIS lengthened the first cycle to a day, and I figured that made the feature obsolete. At this point, I'm not sure why someone would want to schedule actions in the future that they weren't willing to do on the current cycle. Also, that is not a donor feature and has always been available to everyone. There was a point where I stopped supporting the standalone tool, and integrated it into the recruiting tool, but it's still available to anyone.

seble, the tool automates tedious recruiting tasks. It isn't just a data cruncher.
Right, but it's not doing anything you can't do within the site. It's just allowing you to do it faster, right?
I was told one time that you can search recruits by their Formation IQ on the yatzr tool which you can not do within this site.
Yes, but if the WIS search could do these sorts of things then we wouldn't need 3rd party tools. The tool is still using generally available information. You can go through every recruit and note their formation IQ. Then select those with a certain formation IQ.

The real problem is that GD is a cash cow so very little development is devoted to it. The GD recruit search is horrible to use and it is the 3rd party tools that make the process workable.

Those complaining about yatzr's tool ought to direct their frustration at WIS and their ancient GD interfaces.

You should purchase the Yatzr tool, get a team, and finish above .500 for once.

donor features include seeing a breakout of the teams that are on a player, not just the word multiples. Ability to download in multiple threads so it is faster to get through the data that is honestly lengthy if you don't have muti-thread, ability to pull GPA and formation data. Maybe more, but those 3 for sure.

Really?

Grasping at straws here bobby.

Chatting about a game with other players is not even close to what this app does.

Ridiculous.
