you are wrong by a wide margin. Russia just hijacked our entire Democratic process and has the same arsenal we do.
Over the past 20 years how many Americans has Russia killed compared to Islamists?

Russia may not be a "friend" but they aren't killing American soldiers and civilians like the Islamists do. I don't hear their citizens yelling "death to America".

I strongly disagree with you here, Jeff. Very strongly.

Trump’s national security advisers warned him not to congratulate Putin. He did it anyway.

President Trump did not follow specific warnings from his national security advisers when he congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin Tuesday on his reelection, including a section in his briefing materials in all-capital letters stating “DO NOT CONGRATULATE,” according to officials familiar with the call.

Trump also chose not to heed talking points from aides instructing him to condemn Putin about the recent poisoning of a former Russian spy in the United Kingdom with a powerful nerve agent, a case that both the British and U.S. governments have blamed on Moscow.

The president’s conversation with Putin, which Trump called a “very good call,” prompted fresh criticism of his muted tone toward one of the United States’s biggest geopolitical rivals amid the ongoing special counsel investigation into Russia’s election interference and the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russian officials.

Although the Trump administration has taken a tougher stance toward Russia recently — including new sanctions last week on some entities for election meddling and cyber attacks — the president has declined to forcefully join London in denouncing Moscow for the poisoning of Sergie Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury this month. They remain critically ill.

Trump told reporters that he had offered his well wishes on Putin’s new six-year term during a conversation on a range of topics, including arms control and the security situations in Syria and North Korea. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that Skripal’s case was not discussed. Information on Syria and North Korea were also provided to the president in writing before the call, officials said.

“We’ll probably be meeting in the not-too-distant future,” Trump said of Putin, though Sanders emphasized that nothing was planned.

The White House press office declined to comment on the briefing materials given to Trump. Two people familiar with the notecards acknowledged that they included instructions not to congratulate Putin. But a senior White House official emphasized that national security adviser H.R. McMaster did not mention the issue during a telephone briefing with the president, who was in the White House residence ahead of and during his conversation with Putin.

It was not clear whether Trump read the notes, administration officials said. Trump, who initiated the call, opened it with the congratulations for Putin, one person familiar with the conversation said.

Good for Trump. A lot of guys who were up to their necks in Russian collusion/conspiracy/money laundering investigations would lay low after Putin won another one of his sham elections. Trump just says, "Eff that, my buddy stole another election and I'm going to congratulate him!"

I thought I saw where the White House is now denying that Trump called Putin. Or did I imagine that?

Russia is pretty anti-America and are far more dangerous than Islamists.

It's funny how everyone is suddenly shouting about this but ignoring the armed teacher in California that discharged his weapon in a classroom injuring a student, or the armed teacher in Georgia that barricaded himself in a classroom during school hours causing a standoff....just last week.

The same people who talk about media bias and fake news stay in their basement and don't say a word when **** like that happens.

This was a trained police officer. There's NOTHING wrong with that. Arming teachers is a terrible idea.
Exactly. #march4ourlives

cc..we might as well get rid of nato..we dont need it.
i guess you forgot about oct. 1962 and the arms race.
duck and cover..a blast from the past.
we stand in the way of russia arming other countries that would do us harm.
if we dont have a democracy we would be dead in the water
in wars some civilians get killed.....the islamists are not an existential threat.
losing a democracy or letting it be severly damaged is an existential threat.
why was there such outrage at not saluting the flag.
the oath of office is to protect the constitution.

That is 100% speculation. I have actual relatives there and they say there is zero anti American rhetoric there. ZERO.

How do you know? You are as smart as a bag of hammers. You are a liar. Go away.

China and Russia are definitely adversaries. But similar to the cold war the conflicts are mostly intelligence and now cyber. With Islam over the past 20 years or so it has been actual American soldiers killed. Constant threats of terror and they too attack via cyber.

In my opinion that is far more dangerous than Russia and China combined.

I haven't seen any denial, but if if there is one it means they're disputing Trump's own account: "I had a call with President Putin and congratulated him on the victory, his electoral victory."

Of course, it wouldn't be the first time Trump fabricated some closeness to Putin that didn't actually exist: "I got to know him very well because we were both on 60 Minutes, we were stablemates, and we did very well that night."

What are the odds that something coming out of Trump's mouth is complete bullshit? 50/50?

my mistake...it said WH defends trumps call to Putin. Not denies.
I'd say the odds of complete bullshit coming out of Trump's mouth are a bit better than 50/50. Most of what comes out of his mouth seems to be bullshit
3/21/2018 1:26 PM
I think nearly everything he says is suspect, but I when I said "complete bullshit" I meant total fabrication, as in 100% false. A lot of his statements are "partial bullshit" -- exaggeration, embellishment, whatever, that contain some element of truth in them.

What percentage of his statements are the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Something between 0 and 1%, I'd say.

trump in his remarks said we could talk about arms.....i heard it and it sounded like trump was depending on whether putin wanted a talk on arms...his decision..
look out for trump trying to agree on a deal that is less then mutually beneficial.
i listen for nuances......trump is in fear.
it is interesting how he is imposing tariffs on china even before the nk summit....weird timing.

can you imagine what theresa may is thinking...imagine the usa had such tension with pukin and theresa may spoke so warmly about putin after he hacked into the british election and yet she did not back us up......there would be great hurt..great anger.......and thinking she was a traitor.
either mcmaster or someone close leaked the story about the briefing.......people are risking breaking the law to warn the nation.
