i consider myself agnostic......i dont want blind faith in any religion........to me that is not using one's mind to a higher capacity.........i also think atheism is likewise blind faith in the absence of God.........to me agnosticism is the truest calling.....to say i dont know is the highest truth.

We are in the same boat. I use "atheism" because many don't know what agnosticism is.

it was started by a conservative rabbi named mordachai kaplan. in the 1920s i think....he says God is the power by which we receive salvation...there is no belief in the bible as the word of God ...the biblical works are strictly man made...no supernatural or anthropomorphic god........it follows the jewish traditions out of a sense of tradition and because it stands for the proposition that the books and holidays were inspired by a sublime yearning to connect with a sense of the divine .....you can be atheist..agnostic.....believer in an unknown or unknowable higher power but it rejects the scriptures as true communication with God..just inspired works.........it is the future of judiasm and will lead the way for western bible religions.

some congrgations are affiliated with conservative congs..they are not true reconstructionists...the key is whether they dont accept the bible as word of God...so simple really.......the word for them is not out yet.......not wishy washy..no center like reformed judiasm..

it is growing in Israel as well as usa and canada.

He says it because it fits his narrative. I am not saying I am a Muslim Jew. I am saying I am a Jew. I celebrate the holidays. I just don't believe in any higher power. Idiotplay cannot be a Jew and a Christian because Jews do not believe that Jesus was the messiah. Obviously if Idiotplay is Christian he is no longer a Jew. He can say his mom was a Jew but I doubt he celebrates holidays or identifies in any way as a Jew other than for this argument.

By that logic, you can not be agnostic and Jewish because Jews believe in a higher power, so obviously if you do not believe in a higher power, you are no longer a Jew. As far as I'm concerned you and tangplay (and anyone else) can call themselves whatever you want.

those who are jewish are seperate from the wishes of the majority to conform or convert.. ...thats part of what makes us jewish.....we are part of the other...but we relish that.......it has always been that way....anybody who is jewish understands that...if you are born jewish or raised in the jewish faith and remain inside the jewish group you are jewish in israel whether you are atheist or whatever...no religious test.......the nazis never cared about your degree of faith..only geneology.........israel accepts all jews .....being jewish is considered more then faith..it is being part of a culture....it has always been that way.
