We all hate racism. But you Bob, BL and tangplay just say “institutional racism” exists and if I disagree I am a moron. This is pure insanity. You don’t have to give me the racist institution or person and you don’t have to share what cures you have in mind, you just keep uttering “institutional racism” over and over again like parrots. Studies show that white kids from single parent families are less successful than African American kids who have two parents. This gets ignored because it does not fit your narrative.
Boris. I'm not ignoring anything. I take no issue with your assertion that "white kids from single parent families are less successful" than kids from whole nuclear families of ANY color! I don't have any narrative at all. Just 50+ years of Living in America with my ears and eyes open!!
I don't think you're a moron, just completely mistaken (Wrong) on the subject of institutional racism. It appears to me that you have lived a sequestered life. Some might call it privileged. I acknowledge that policies and "codes" have been established to try and eradicate racist policies, but folks find ways around the "code" oftentimes and racism exists/is continuing in many pockets of America. You have the right to dismiss whatever facts you choose to....... but that only makes you willfully ignorant....... intentionally intellectually uninformed...... there are many folks who choose to deny the reality of climate change...... when there is no denying the reality. We can argue the causes, or how much WE humans have to do with it but ignoring the factual evidence of the climate changing is willful ignorance. NO credible scientist within that field of study dismisses the actual factual evidence of the change. They argue around the edges of causation but NOT about what is occurring. It has been established fact since the late 1800's that the Arctic cap is melting. Go ask Greenlanders of No. Greenland. So.......... I don't argue at all that you have the right NOT to believe things........... just that that course of intentional refusal to accept facts is............ ???? unwise at best.
Here's the info you need to find out how wrong you are on racism in America.. Read it, if you dare. You won't be able to credibly claim NO institutional racism exist in America anymore because the evidence is clear. It does! Here you go.
That report I mentioned was called "The Kerner Report, The National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorder". It was commissioned by LBJ. Gov. Otto Kerner of Illinois was the head guy. (in 1968, Detroit had barely stopped burning when it was commissioned)
This last weekend NPR's "Code Switch" team of journalists published a story on the 50 year update of the "Kerner Commission"
I listened to the report and READ the transcript. Here is what the study found: (Don't believe me---google it, read for yourself!)
"Its conclusion - widening inequality has become a threat to American democracy."
Oklahoma Senator Fred Harris, (the only living member of the Kerner Commission panel), is quoted here: (also from the NPR story)
"I was 37 when I served on the commission. And who ever thought that, 50 years later, we'd still be talking about the same things? That's kind of sad."
From Fox News: (last week)
"A new study examining the nation 50 years after the release of the landmark 1968 Kerner Report says barriers to equality are posing threats to democracy in the U.S. as the country remains segregated along racial lines and child poverty worsens."
From Smithsonian:
"An update to the landmark study finds there is now more poverty and segregation in America." (than in 1968!)
There are many many more sources available for you to read the ACTUAL report/study.
IF you still refuse to believe that institutional racism still exists, you aren't arguing with me......... you're arguing with expert scientists who have actually done the research and examined the results. That kind of willful myopia is extremely limiting and self damaging in the long run. You'll have only yourself to blame for looking stupid, not me!
Children do best when reared by two loving parents who want them. I completely agree with you on that!
But that little factoid has little to do with institutional racism. THAT little practice (racism) affects 2 parent homes equally......... no matter the color of the parents!
Stay well, Boris. As an American I wish you the best........ for your own children and theirs!
