Safe to put OU in.

If you broke the SEC/B10 into quarters(top 4, second 3, third 3, bottom 4) and ran a round robin tourney between each group, I think most people would pick the SEC. Maybe to win all 4 groups. The SEC is still better, it's just not as pronounced as it has been. 5 years ago, we just dismiss moranis without discussion. Now we discuss it.

UO and UGA are in.

ACC champ will be in.

That leaves, UW, Alabama, OSU, and I guess technically USC.

so the Alabama/OSU debate is sure to be controversy free

I'm sure whichever school isn't the 4 seed will be perfectly understanding

Throw UCF in the 4 spot and call it a day.

Both schools have 3 top 25 wins

Alabama has only 1 loss and it was to a top level team. OSU has 2 losses, one being a shellacking by an unimpressive Iowa.

OSU has better wins with 2 top 10 wins.

OSU is a con champ, Alabama is not.

Alabama played a tougher overall schedule being in the SEC.

While it should not be a factor, we're not dealing with robots. Clemson crushed OSU 31-0 last playoff. Clemson/Alabama have produced great games in the last 2 playoffs. If that's not in the back of minds, maybe we are dealing with robots.

Also while it shouldn't matter, I think the fact that last night was a 1 score game will also be in their minds.

There really should be no debate: Ohio State (who I hate - mainly because of idiots who do sheit like say THE Ohio State) is IN, and Alabama is OUT. Ohio State won the Big 10 Championship while Alabama didn't even win it's Division. Losing it's Division means there was a team who had a better regular season than they did. That team isn't even in the discussion for the Playoff, so how should Alabama be? The results prove the Committee made a mistake last season by taking a Division loser and they should learn from it.

I think I could argue USC against OSU.

2 loss Conference champs
Multiple wins over top 25 teams

USC - 3 point loss to WSU at WSU, destroyed by ranked Notre Dame
OSU - 31 point loss to Iowa at Iowa, 15 point loss to OK at home

Does OSU's wins overcome those two losses? They were non-competitive losses.

Fresno lost and is thus not going to be ranked giving Bama just LSU and Miss. St.

there is a slight chance Michigan gets ranked thoigh I think that is unlikely so OSU will probably still have 3 with PSU and Wiscy being top 10.

ESPN "experts" have it about even with Bama having slightly more votes

Yes, even Southern Cal over Alabama. Do I think they're better than Alabama? I think Alabama may have been the most consistently good team in the Country, but Ohio State and Southern Cal are 2 of the teams who have played some "better" games. Again, it all goes back to losing the Division for me. If Auburn had won and was in, then I could see Alabama having an argument, but when the team you lose the Division to is not in, you shouldn't be either. Not only is Auburn not in, but they lost their Championship game. If Alabama (according to standings) had a worse regular season than Auburn, doesn't that mean for Playoff-consideration purposes, we should mentally give Alabama another loss? (If you're not good enough to even make the game, logic says you probably aren't good enough to win it.)

I used to think about this way, but when you really think about it Alabama had a better regular season than OSU and USC. They don't have the wins on paper that OSU, but they don't have the losses on paper either. Alabama had 1 bad day against a good team. Clemson had 1 bad against a bad team and is in. Oklahoma had 1 bad against an average team and is in. UGA lost to the same team as Alabama and is in. Those 3 teams all got a mulligan. OSU had 2 bad days, one against a bad team and one against a really good team, and might possibly get in.

I think it would be a a disservice to the CFB playoff to leave Bama out.

The committee has never voted 2 teams from the sane conference in and I just don't think this Bama team should be the one that does it. Just 2 ranked wins none in the top 10. Lost to a team that isn't in the playoff. Just doesn't seem like the team to do that with.

Is the point to have the 4 best in?
