oWAR assumes league average defense.

Are you trying to isolate the offense only part of WAR?

If your beloved stat can't show me what I want, well, sorry, you need to use a better stat when arguing value of a player.

I already asked you if you wanted to look at Fangraphs' offensive runs. It's the offensive component of WAR without any defensive calculation. Do you want to use that?

Nope. We're back to "EM wasn't a good enough hitter to be in the HOF and, well frankly, his D didn't exist".

If you were arguing that a pitcher belonged in the hall and I came at you with an argument that his W/L record sucked, that'd be about as dumb an argument as I could ever make. I don't think the stat is useful, why am I using it?

So, back to EM, I'm happy to make an argument that involves WAR, but not until you agree that WAR is a useful stat. Because, otherwise, when I make the argument, you're going to respond with, "yeah, well, that's why WAR is useless."

And we're back to square one.

So let me know. If it's useful, great, we can address your top 10 question. If it's not, oh well, we can use something else.
