He actually does think that EM walked too much (which is retarded) but also doesn’t like the fact that everyone calls him retarded for saying it. So he wants to claim he didn’t actually say it. You'll have to excuse me if I hold 3-4-5 hitters to a different standard than Vince Coleman and Ozzie Smith. I'd have LOVED those guys to walk 110 times a year. The were not great hitters nor did they bat in the middle of the order. Still confused?

I included I prefer my middle of the line-up guys to take the bat off their shoulder. IIRC, EM batting in the middle of the order, thus making one believe he was a good hitter, and I like my better hitters swinging the bat rather than passing it on to a lesser hitter. Let's not pretend EM either walked or hit. Not looking it up again but I believe he whiffed once every 6 PA. Who knows how many were looking?
