A good example.

BL considers this a "win". Not sure why.
I consider this a "win". First, because BL always responds within minutes. It's like he's set up a warning system on his device. "MikeT talking Edgar. Please respond immediately!!!" Second, because BL digs up a single sentence from a 10 page discussion from 5 years ago to prove his "point". Then he has to explain why "walked a great deal" = "walked too much". Poorly. Finally, because BL somehow thinks he's "winning".
Well, you left out a pretty important part of what you said.

FWIW - everyone knows Mike is the Donald Trump of WIS. He follows El Presidente's talking points to a T:

1. Always accuse others of the things you do yourself
2. If you say something stupid, act like you were misunderstood or claim it was a joke
3. Talk like you're the greatest and smartest person on the planet, and eventually others will believe it (this never works, but never stops people using this playbook from trying).

Yep, on the list of 5 reasons I wouldn't put him in the HOF(only 1 of which wasn't bad). I included I prefer my middle of the line-up guys to take the bat off their shoulder. IIRC, EM batting in the middle of the order, thus making one believe he was a good hitter, and I like my better hitters swinging the bat rather than passing it on to a lesser hitter. Let's not pretend EM either walked or hit. Not looking it up again but I believe he whiffed once every 6 PA. Who knows how many were looking?

Yeah, you said he walked too much.

That’s stupid as ****.
11/14/2017 10:07 AM
Again, I said he "walked a great deal" and I prefer the middle of the order guys swinging the bat not passing it on to lesser hitters.

What part of that is so confusing? I know it's early for you right now but we've had this discussion at all times of the day.

The confusing part is why you’d continue to argue such a dumb point. The fact that Martinez walked a decent amount is a good thing, not a mark against him.
11/14/2017 10:17 AM
And you said “walked a great deal...bad.” Stop trying to hide that fact.

Post the link. I was listing reasons I wouldn't put him in the HOF. You'll have to excuse me if I hold 3-4-5 hitters to a different standard than Vince Coleman and Ozzie Smith. I'd have LOVED those guys to walk 110 times a year. The were not great hitters nor did they bat in the middle of the order.

Still confused?

My confusion stems from the fact that you keep bringing this up.

Great offensive players walk a lot. It's part of what makes them great offensive players. It's a feature, not a bug. It doesn't matter if they hit leadoff, 3rd, 4th, 7th, whatever, walking is a good thing.

It's stupid to say Edgar Martinez "walked a great deal...bad" because it wasn't. It was good.

I'm beginning to think that BL is a woman. He argues a lot like my wife. He hears/reads things, misinterprets them or adds in imaginary words to make it seem less logical, and then argues against the less-logical things.

Mike says "he walked a great deal", BL hears "he walked too much", and then argues about "too much".

sure hope your wife doesn't read this, todd...or I see another argument in your immediate future.

It's a classic BL tactic. Take something you said, remove the context and distort it to mean something different, and then argue that's what you meant.

Nah, I've told her this many times. "You're arguing against the voices in your head"... it goes over very well.

27 years and counting...

Mike's the only one trying to remove context, leaving out the part where he said, "bad."

While defending BL is at the bottom of my list of desires, Mike has definitely argued extensively that Edgar walked too much and that Edgar's walks hurt his team. That's a classic MikeTrump tactic - argue something dumb, and then either deny, deny, deny or pretend it was all an elaborate moke attempt, whereas BL just doubles down on his stupidity. Mike and BL are equals when it comes to arguing - they're just at opposite extremes.
