Have Russian Sanctions been implemented yet?

Pee-party tapes if they are?

A travel ban is literally impossible to stop all terrorism. We have tons of security measures in airports, etc. Don't use a terrible event to push your agenda. Also, the terrorist to good person ratio among immigrants is probably 1 to 1,000,000. All a travel ban would do is push the flawed stereotyping that muslims are terrorists.
@moy
Hollywood movies push flawed stereotypes too and I don't see you up in arms about them.

All it takes is 1 in a million to kill 8 Americans and injure 12 more.
I do if it affects our policy!

That does not mean you have to discriminate against the other 999,999
Happens all the time. One person
shoots people using a bump stock and bump stocks get banned. No?
Except when it is a pattern of a travel ban blocking it.... And don't hyperbole this.

BL... I'm happy to break this down into real #s rather than rhetoric.

Lets start with college grads, young adults.

Assumptions:
Student Loan Interest = $1260 annually (average bachelor degree loan debt after graduating is $30k in 2015, the rate is 4.45%, term is 10 yrs)
Salary = $50,000 (apparently that's the average pay for a college grad, seems high but oh well).
Average Age for a 1st time home buyer = 31 y/o
Average Age for Marriage = 27 y/o
Average Age for 1st Child = 27 y/o

It's safe to assume this tax filer is unmarried, filing as an Individual, no home, no kids.

Leaving taxes unchanged....
Standard Deduction = $6350 (Student Loan, Charity, Medical, etc won't be higher than this)
Exemption = $4000

$50,000 - 10,350 = $39,650 taxable income
The first $9325 is taxed at 10%, from $9326 - $37,950 its at 15%, the last $1700 is at 25%
So in 2017 this graduate or single filer will pay $5651.25 in taxes.

Under Trump, very simple:
$50000 - SD of $12,000 = $38,000 taxable income
The first $38,000 would all be taxed at 12%
So under Trump this graduate or single filer under will pay $4560 in taxes.

In this scenario, which includes a **** ton of people who are not rich, Trump will save them each about $1100. Am I missing something here?

You're missing something alright

Next scenario, Married without Kids. They bought their first home at age 32, have a HH Salary of $72,000, and the mortgage is $182,000. I grabbed these numbers online by searching average first home price.

Current Scenario:
Standard Deduction is $12700
Mortgage interest is ~$7,200 annually ($182k for 30 yrs at 4%)
Exemptions = $8000
Student loans - paid off in 10 years or very little remaining.
Medical Expenses probably not much.... Also currently they can not be deducted until they are over 10% of income, $7200 in this case.

$72,000 - 20,700 = $51,300 taxable income
The 1st $18,650 is taxed at 10%, from $18651 - $51,300 its at 15%
So this couple will pay $6762.50 in 2017 under the current tax code.

Under Trump:
$72,000 - 24,000 = $48,000 taxable income
All taxed at 12%
Same couple pays $5760 under the trump tax plan.

Again... They save ~$1000 under the Trump tax plan vs the current plan. No?

This is a **** plan. If Trump really wanted to help middle/lower class families, he wouldn't touch the personal exemptions, mortgage interest deductions, and student loan interest deductions.

This is a gift to rich people who own a lot of stock or who plan to inherit a **** load of money.
How?

Mortgage deductions drop from $1 million to $500k? How many middle class people have mortgages over $500k? Only wealthy people do.

The first $24k married, joint filling is now at 0% taxes. The next $90k is at 12% under Trump. currently this is the first $12k is at 0%, the next $18k is at 10%, the next $55k is at 15%, the next $15k+++ is at 25%. It doesn't take a genius to see Trump's plan is WAY better, simply with the 12% bracket extending up to $90k.

It expands the child tax credit, how does that not help the middle class?

Capping state and local tax deductions at $10,000.... Again that's a beat down on the wealthy but not the middle class.

My mortgage is over $500k and I'm certainly not wealthy.

It's not capping state deductions, it's eliminating state income tax deductions but allowing property tax deductions up to $10,000.

It temporarily expands the child tax credit but that goes away in 3 years. The double standard deduction is offset by the elimination of the $4000 per person personal exemption.

It also adds $1.5 trillion to the debt, which doesn't bother me, but I could have sworn I saw a bunch of right wingers losing their ******* minds over the debt and deficit when a black democrat was president.

if you live in Calfiornia(I know, Moy says we don't count) you don't have to be rich to have a mortgage over $500K.
11/2/2017 7:09 PM
Yes, but chump don't give a f*@k because California voted against him. It's a penalty for disloyalty. As the Everly Brothers said "The Price You Pay"........

Simple 5th grade logic......... *** for tat. Exactly in character.

Sorry.... But 90% of the country would say you're rich if you can afford a $500k mortgage. You need to pay your fair share. Just because you're from California doesn't give you a free pass.
11/2/2017 7:17 PM
Did I say anything about a free pass? and just because 90% of the country may think I'm rich, that doesn't make me rich.

I just gave you two examples of how eliminating the personal exemptions didn't matter for those that make very little money.... The same people you claim to want to help. Now you're worried about your $500k mortgage deduction... Wow!
