If you knew EXTREME vetting would stop one terrorist, a terrorist that would kill your child, from entering, are you for EXTREME vetting of all muslims?
Of course. Just like you would segregate all blacks to save your kid.
The problem is it's an impossible if. No amount of vetting can prevent all attacks. We balance the need for safety with the need for liberty.
So, since it's impossible, there's no need to try to do better?
No one is saying don't do better. They're saying don't do this.
I'm sure we could do better preventing crime if we allowed police to go in and search any house, any time. But we don't. Because "doing better" isn't the only concern.
You do recognize the difference, right?
One is taking rights away from Americans.
The other is, well, uh, has nothing to do with Americans.
