Funny that people who think all journalism is "fake news/enemies of the people" would also use "He's not a journalist!" as a put-down.
Wow, way to conflate two opposing views. Journalism isn't "fake news". That's the whole point. But a lot of people around here (looking at YOU, BL) get their information from "fake news" sources because they really believe it's "journalism".

The media of today are NOT journalists. They're political commenters (and the occasional British comedian). All artifice around actual journalism is gone now... because people like BL can't understand the difference.
I get my news from "fake news sources"? PBS, NPR, NYT, CBC, BBC, The Guardian, The New Yorker, The Intercept, The Atlantic, New York Review of Books, Democracy Now -- that's all fake news?

Here's a serious question for you, todd. What isn't fake news? Where can I go for unbiased, reasonable coverage of President Trump?

Left Bias

These media sources are highly biased toward liberal causes. They utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports and omit reporting of information that may damage liberal causes. Sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See Also:

I go to Vox to get my unbiased news. Matthew Yglesias in particular.

Rachel Maddow is getting roasted on Twitter right now. Now THIS is comedy!

3/14/2017 10:23 PM (edited)

(CNNMoney) MSNBC's Rachel Maddow teed up a major scoop about President Donald Trump's taxes on Tuesday night -- only to end up disappointing many in the political-media establishment with a report that was widely characterized as overhyped.

The big reveal, which Maddow did not get to until after a lengthy monologue and commercial break, showed that in 2005 Trump paid $38 million in federal income taxes on a reported income of $150 million.

BL is speechless. Trump wins again.

What BL exemplifies is the idiocy of the liberal mind. All these comedy shows are taken as journalistic gospel and news. Jon Stewart was probably the first to blur the lines in their minds, which got further obscured by Colbert, until we have the laughable BL claiming that John Oliver's show is "journalism", when John Oliver himself says it isn't. AND HE (BL) STILL DOESN'T ******* GET IT.
I take it you feel the same about the idiocy of the conservative mind that listen to Rush and O'Reilly?
Rush and O'Reilly are talk show hosts, not journalists.

For one thing, I can comprehend what I read.

I said I was looking at BL when I said "a lot of people around here".

Persecuted much?

Trump is completely polarizing. I doubt you'll find unbiased coverage of Trump... maybe in Japan.
3/15/2017 12:14 AM
In a reply to me you wrote you were "looking at YOU, BL" -- perhaps if you wrote with more clarity my comprehension would improve? I see now what you meant, but it could easily be interpreted as a shot at me and BL, not merely BL (who had nothing to do with my post, after all).

And thanks for the non-answer answer on what you consider unbiased, reasonable media. So we're back to "all journalism is fake news/enemies of the people" huh?
3/15/2017 12:25 AM
No, my point is all Trump news is (for lack of a better word) tainted with the stink of bias, prejudice, and political opinion. I'm not quite sure what happened to "just the facts" and when reporting was replaced by commentary.

One place you can still get some reasonably direct reporting is on the local news (even in the Bay Area). Yeah, the stories tilt towards the liberal events, but still presented in a factual, non-judgmental fashion. You'll hear that Trump gave a speech, but not "Trump reigns triumphant" or "Trump bumbles over a foreign name"

Some news orgs bend over backwards to make Trump seem not-ridiculous; PBS NewsHour, for example, and here in Canada the CBC. But let's face it, he IS ridiculous. He lies A LOT. He lies BADLY. He lies when there's NO REASON TO LIE (like the rain on Inauguration Day -- no one was blaming him for the rain, so why lie about it?). I suppose the news orgs who notice this and point it out are the ones you're thinking of when you write about the stink of bias?

News outlets calling Trump out for lying is the pot calling the kettle black. If they were credible journalists maybe people might actually care what these stations had to say.

Btw - did you notice Trump paid a higher rate in taxes in 2005 than Mitt Romney, Obama, Hillary, Bernie, etc? Remember when Hillary and the media blasted Trump over and over again for NOT paying taxes?

The problem with journalism is that it has become increasingly biased since the internet.... Investigative journalists don't investigate anymore, they just sit at a desk and Google for scoops to fit a narrative. Anyone can do that which is why blogging has taken off.

Real news is not recycling someone elses speculation as if it is fact.
