Clinton probably wishes the race was based on policy. She would have won if it was.
Yep.

2016 was about personality and the idea that Clinton couldn’t be trusted.

Ironic that to avoid an unlikeable and (perceived) corrupt Clinton, we elected Trump, the most unlikeable and corrupt president in history.

I like how he admitted yesterday that Cohen was acting as his attorney when he dealt with Stormy Daniels. Oooops.
Lol.... Yeah, Trump won because of his charming personality!!!

You libs STILL don't get why Trump won. Now that's funny.

It certainly wasn't about policy because

a) trump doesn't understand policy
b) when he stated a policy preference on the campaign, it usually wasn't conservative
c) when he later flip-flopped that policy preference, trumpcult didn't bat an eye
d) now that he is president and has consistently failed to deliver ANY meaningful policy (ACA repeal, the wall, even non-impotent tax cuts), trumpcult didn't bat an eye.

People that support trump don't care about policy. They care about celebrity. They care about "their guy" being in power.
Nope, not about policy either.

He won because people are sick of establishment politicians (on both sides, see bernie sanders popularity) telling us what we want to hear, and then doing the opposite to please their special interest friends. Trump won because people are sick of PC solutions that don't work because they don't solve any actual problem. Trump won because he was speaking to 87% of counties in the US.

The reason the polls were wrong is because they never asked the questions that mattered to those that voted Trump.... Such as how they feel about political correctness.
OK, A) the polls weren't wrong. The final 12 polls of the 2016 election had Clinton up by, on average, 3 points. She won the vote by 2 points. That's pretty accurate.

B) The fact that Trump is a racist idiot without refinement doesn't mean he isn't "establishment." We know this because he packed his cabinet with people as swampy as anyone in DC. And guess what? trumpcult didn't bat an eye. Because they don't care about whether or not he is establishment. They love his celebrity.

Side question, what specific issue do you have with political correctness?
If the polls were correct then they would have predicted Trump in a landslide. You're referring to the national polling which doesn't mean ****. State by state is, as you learned, way more important to be accurate with.

He packed his cabinet with businessmen... more than most presidents. That's a huge PLUS!!! you can call that swampy all you want but his voters, the ones you'll never understand, did not want a bunch of know nothing, self absorbed, life long politicians filling those positions. To us, that's swampy.

PC doesn't solve anything. For instance, you libs think I'm racist because I point out black on black crime is an epidemic (fact), whereas white cop shooting unarmed black man is an outlier (fact). You want to call ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS undocumented workers... they are ******* ILLEGAL (fact)!!! you like to call abortion women's rights.... Rather than **** THE BABIES RIGHTS. Have you ever seen any issue from the other side or is it easier to just stick to your comforting language like undocumented workers and women's rights to make you feel like you're in the right, so PC-like of you.
Trump. Didn’t. Win. In. A. Landslide.

Corrupt, swampy businessmen.

That’s just politics in general. For example, you prefer to frame the abortion debate in terms of rights of the fetus. I prefer to frame it in terms of the rights of the mother. Neither of us are being more politically correct than the other.

People who complain about political correctness prefer to not be reminded that there are people in the world with a different perspective.
Trump won the presidency in a landslide... Please tell us the electoral results... Didn't he won by 80+? Elections are won by electoral votes, no?

See... My point... you still don't get it because you live in a liberal bubble called California. Most of the nation, outside of the liberal bubbles, see swampy as politicians. Inside the liberal bubbles swampy means big business.

YES POLITICS IN GENERAL.... THAT'S WHAT TRUMP SUPPORTERS LOATHE!!! NOW YOU GET IT!!!

Yeah, that isn’t a landslide. 120,000 votes over 3 states go the other way and Clinton is President.

Um, maybe I’m not the one in the bubble here. I see corruption as swampy regardless of whether the person’s background is politics or business.

You’re missing the point here. You want to frame the debate as rights of the fetus. That’s just as political as framing it as the rights of the mother. There is no way to avoid politics when deciding policy.

Sure, people in middle America aren’t only watching Fox News. Riiiiiight.
4/27/2018 10:20 PM
It’s actually less than that. <70k total go from Trump to Clinton in 2 states and she wins.

Not a landslide. 2012 wasn’t a landslide either. 2008 was though.
4/27/2018 10:32 PM
i think in the popular vote for president anything over 55% is considered a landslide

o course thats 8th grade civics or whatever

That game could be played either way.... Eliminate California, Illinois, and New York and Trump wins by almost 200 electoral votes and 10 million votes. Might as well play if Grandma had balls she'd be Grandpa. The end result was a LANDSLIDE!!!! You're in denial.

as to you in the bubble.... You still think Trump won because of his good looks and charming personality over Hillary. You just said that a few pages ago. That alone demonstrates that you can't see past your California myopia.

Missing the point? I am pro-choice but I see both sides. And as to no way to avoid politics when deciding policy.... WELL THAT'S EXACTLY WHY TRUMP WON, THAT MINDSET. Politics for illegal immigration is should we build a wall or not because it might offend someone.... Trump is like **** that.... If a wall offends someone but can help deter even a fraction of illegals from entering the country then let's build a wall. Politics is calling someone an undocumented worker. Avoiding politics is calling a spade a spade and prosecuting ILLEGALS to the full extent of the law.

Even Fox News is big city propaganda.... They are based in NYC, no? Flyover usa may watch Fox but Fox News is still not reporting from their perspective on Iowa, Montana, etc....

1. Trump did not win in a landslide. He lost the popular vote. I honestly could not care less about the electoral vote. Clinton won. The polls were correct.
2. Define 'swampy.'
3. Black crime is not an 'epidemic', cops shooting black men is not an 'outlier', I don't want to call them undocumented workers, your position on abortion is actually the PC one, and I do see issues from both sides.

BTW you aren't racist for your comments on black people, you are just ignorant.
Lol.... I could win the popular vote if I campaigned in 10 cities.... THAT'S WHY WE HAVE AN ELECTORAL SYSTEM. don't be a dumbass. Elections are won by electoral votes by design.
swampy=life long politicians, sending tax payer money to special interest groups.
Most of your point #3 is statistically stooooopid.... How many white cops, out of all incidents where white cops are involved with unarmed black men, actually shoot the unarmed black man? What's that percentage? Now what's the percentage of black men that are killing black men? Leave out suicides.... How many shootings are white on white crime, white on black crime, vs black on black crime. This is EXACTLY my point. YOU'RE TOO PC TO EVEN HAVE THIS CONVERSATION.

And btw - am I racist because I want a ******* southern wall that actually works rather than the half assed wall that Clinton and Bush started building?
.
1. Polls measure the popular vote though. And that is a problem with the electoral system. If you don't win the popular vote, it is not a landslide.
2. Then the definition of swampy is either completely meaningless or Trump is a hypocrite.
3. We can have this conversation. Your arguments are irrelevant, not because it is a racist argument, but because it is whataboutism. I really don't see why shootings by race are relevant here, it has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation about POLICE. So let's talk about POLICE shootings. About that percentage, we have no way of knowing that, however the rate of black people shot by police is FAR more than white people and that is adjusted for the rate of crimes committed by race. Can we agree that police should be required to wear body cameras and that the justice system should be tweaked for more accountability?

No, again, you are not racist, you are just ignorant.

BTW, 'southern wall' and 'actually works' is an oxymoron.

Trump's strategy has essentially been
1. Make up problems
2. Talk about 'solutions' to the problems that don't exist.
3. Make up things about opponents, use whataboutism, call everything opposing you 'fake news.'
4. Generate a fuckton of media attention.
5. Exploit the masses of idiots who only pay attention to what the leader says.
6. Profit.
How has Trump profited? From what I hear he's being sued even more now, the media is destroying his name and credibility (i.e. his brand), hotels have removed his name from them, Nordstrom's dropped his daughters clothing line, he's losing business, he's being 'criminally' investigated by a special council.....

Do you have proof he's profiting?
BULL. ****. You honestly don't believe that Trump has many conflicts of interest?

Why didn't he put his assets into a blind trust?

Why didn't he release his taxes?

Seems fairly sketchy.
And you think a blind trust is actually blind?

I'm still waiting for proof he's profiting?
BLIND TRUST:
a financial arrangement in which a person in public office gives the administration of private business interests to an independent trust in order to prevent conflict of interest. Under the trust, the owner does not know how the assets are managed.

What he did is not a blind trust.

I cannot prove that he is profiting. You can't prove that he isn't. The reason for this is because he didn't release his taxes.
So so you think Trump is pulling a Martha Stewart and insider trading? He's calling up his investment advisor and saying geez I'm really going to **** over this industry so we should short them?... Or do you think he's like most billionaires that have people that manage their money without him calling all the shots? Trump's no dummy, only dummies think they can manage their money better than the experts just like I can't build a house better than a contractor or diagnose a medical condition better than a doctor.

Trump's taxes were disclosed --- remember Rachel Maddows claim to fame?
I think Trump still has control over his company to some extent. I won't speculate over what he is doing with that control, because neither you nor I know that. What we do know is that he is breaking institutional rules by not giving his worth to a blind trust, and that is a clear conflict of interest case.

Cmon, we both know that that was BS.

Btw- what do you expect to prove from Trump's taxes? For 40 years candidates have released their taxes and it's proven NOTHING.
If Trump's taxes prove nothing, why won't he release them?

I live in Kansas. The smart of us see 'swampy' as corrupt. If you say it means 'outsider' then it is meaningless, because insiders are not necessarily bad. I don't see how insiders are bad for the country.

THAT IS SOME BULL ******* ****. The people in the 87% of counties either watch Fox, Alex Jones, or nothing at all. Look at the ******* electorate that voted Trump. You really think those demographics are watching opposition stuff and then turning around and coming up with their own opinions?

BTW that same argument could be flipped.

NOW YOU GET IT!!!

your last point... That's just dumb. You see, people in the 87% of counties that voted for Trump understand the liberal perspective because that's ALL they see via the mainstream media in new New York, la, and Chicago being televised nationally. When was that last time you watched mainstream media outlet in California report from the POV of the Iowa or Montana or Alabama perspective? Never!!!

Riiiiiight.

That isn't the game he was playing. You made a completely differing argument from what he made.

Pro-choice? You called pro-choice people "baby killers"... this is news to me... BTW Politics is policy. Your political beliefs fall onto what policy you believe in.

If Trump's policy revolves around ******* off PC people, then that is a pretty ****** and divisive way of governing. How about creating policy based upon facts and logic?

I wouldn't want 'big media' to report from the perspective of Kansas because most of us who voted Trump are dumbasses who get bullied into being conservative due to their hick, uneducated parents and are too dumb to come up with their own opinions. Sad but true. I wouldn't want 'mainstream media' reporting the beliefs of those people because their beliefs are terrible and uneducated. Instead of pushing the beliefs of the lowest common denominator onto the higher ones, how about doing it the other way around? Educate people with FACTS, not FAKE NEWS.

Oooops.

You’re coming apart at the seams, moy. It wasn’t a landslide.

I said nothing about looks or charm. I said celebrity.

Deciding how and when to prosecute illegal immigrants is politics. Sorry to break it to you.

You do know that most people in the country live in large cities, right?

Moy, I would LOVE to have a DISCUSSION about the WALL with you. No racism or PC talk. Just two open-minded individuals using logic and numbers to make educated arguments.

But you will probably decline and/or stop in the middle of said discussion because doing things like this is where Trumpism falls apart.

And btw - am I racist because I want a ******* southern wall that actually works rather than the half assed wall that Clinton and Bush started building?
.
You ask what the percentage of white cops, out of all the incidents where white cops were involved with unarmed black men, actually shoot the black man? Probably rather small, but I'd bet a lot of money it is much higher than the percentage of white cops shooting unarmed white men they are involed with.
