82 million households will see a tax hike under Trump’s plan.

There are only 126 million households in the US.

Trump’s tax plan is garbage.
I call bullshit.
It’s from the non-partisan tax policy center. Almost all the benefits to non-wealthy individuals expire while the benefits to corporations and wealthy people do not.

This is a bad deal and completely goes against Trump’s populist message.

It's still bullshit. Do the math.

According to the most recent IRS data, for the 2013 tax year,

  • 30.1 percent of households chose to itemize their deductions (44 million returns).
  • 68.5 percent of households chose to take the standard deduction (101 million returns).
  • 1.6 percent of households had zero or negative adjusted gross income, and were unable to take any deductions. (2 million returns)

Simply doubling the standard deduction would not only help the 101 million households that currently take the standard deduction but would potentially help those that currently itemize between $12,700 and $24,000.
All the benefits to the people in the lower brackets expire in the next 5-10 years.
Be more specific. The reduced tax bracket rates and the doubling of the standard deduction is not expiring. That's where the savings are.

Deplorable.

Per the AP:

Trump spoke as the Tax Policy Center said that while all income groups would see tax reductions, on average, under the Senate bill in 2019, 9 percent of taxpayers would pay higher taxes that year than under current law. By 2027, that proportion would grow to 50 percent, largely because the legislation's personal tax cuts expire in 2026, which Republicans did to curb budget deficits the bill would create

From WAPO:

while American families receive only temporary tax relief that expires as soon as 2023 in the House bill and 2026 in the Senate bill.

In the House bill, the tax increase would mostly hit moderate and middle-income families because a credit designed to help them expires after five years. But in the Senate plan, released late Tuesday, virtually all Americans would face higher tax rates because the individual income rate cuts go away entirely in 2026. The tax cuts for corporations do not expire.

Do you know why they expire? I do. So does the Post, but they won't tell you. They want you to think it's an evil Republican plan. That's because they're fake news. In the tank for the left.

I remember when Bill Clinton ran. He promised a middle class tax cut if he was elected. THREE months after the election he went on TV to tell the American people that he just couldn't do it. He said he never worked harder in his life, but there was just no way he could give the taxpayers a cut. IN FACT, he told us he would have to RAISE TAXES on the middle class. ANYONE HERE REMEMBER THAT? I sure do.

Jimmy Carter didn't give a tax cut. Neither did Obama. No democrat congress since Kennedy has either. Reagan did it. Newt and the Republican House did it during the Clinton administration in their Contract with America.

It's "Temporary" for a very simple reason. But the FAKE NEWS MEDIA will never let you in on the game.

So in 10 years the personal tax cuts expire.... Which means for the next 9 years everyone saves money (especially the 69% already filling under the standard deduction), and in 2025-2026 the elections are about extending the tax cuts vs letting them expire.

I'll take that. Why would this concern you?

What credit? The $300 additional credit for the filer, spouse, and dependants? It's not there now... So it's a 5 year bonus.

The $300 child credit is in addition to this plan raising the child credit from $1000 per child now to $1600 per child, which does not expire and is tied to inflation both now and in the new plan.

It's temporary because it's got to fit under the rules of reconciliation. That's because the Democrats all of a sudden don't care about helping the lower and middle classes and for some reason the deficit seems to matter a whole lot to them... Go figure.
