I bet that broad separated her shoulder there.

And bullpen coaches?

I'll be honest, despite my HBD arrogance, I don't have a f'ing clue when it comes to coaches.  Someone write a manifesto.

I like the Ariza deal for the Rockets. No one mentions it in the national press, but it opens up 20 minutes a game for Chase Budinger. The $6,3M trade exception will also come in handy for them at the AS break.

Generally I look to get coaches in the upper part of the ratings for their level, but dont get too out of shape in overbidding for the "best".  Generally the prospects that come all the way up through my system are very near their projections because of it

Yeah, I think it was a great deal for the Rockets.  Save money and Lee is not much worse.

And bullpen coaches?
The ML bullpen coach has some effect on the growth/maintenance of the ML pitching staff. He plays a lesser role than the ML pitching coach, but he plays a role nonetheless.

I dont think I've ever spent over the minimum on bullpen coach

As terrific as Ariza is at playing the passing lanes and getting steals and deflections, his gambles often resulted in an easy layup or wide-open shot for the opposition. I don't know what the statistical breakdown of the tradeoff is, but it sure is frustrating to see that. Not as frustrating as watching Artest jack it up from behind the arc, but still frustrating.

I don't really have any evidence that my approach to minor league coaches works, but I do know that A) a few others do the same, and B) I'm not going to say any more about it.

In the majors, I just try to get good but not great guys across the board, although sometimes I'll splurge on a high-end PC.

Say more about it.

I generally have completely average coaches...  middle of the road at each level.

I also never have prospects.

Look, it's not in my nature to be mysterious, but I can't talk about it, and I can't talk about why.

Exactly, cheez.  Exactly.

Utley gets to start hitting today.  My prediction is he comes back for the beginning of the west coast trip.
