Obama: Worst President Ever? Topic

I thought I answered this.  Several times.

I don't care.   If they want to get married, fine.   If the state wants to deny them, fine.    If a gay couple asks me to perform the ceremony, sure, I'll do it for a price.  It won't be legal, in any state, but I'll say "Do you take this man......." if they pay me enough.

IOW, SSM is not my cause.   If you want to fight for their(or your) "right" to marry, please do.

I
do
not
care.

I don't care about "dangerous" either.

Being 400 lbs and eating 10 Big Macs is dangerous.   Does our government have laws in place to stop that?
You don't have to care, but that is the legal reasoning behind it.
Suppose the street is deserted and straight.

More "dangerous" than a fat guy gorging himself on fast food every day?
It doesn't matter which is more dangerous to the person committing the act.  Driving 110 MPH is dangerous to others (even if the road is deserted), eating fast food isn't.

Driving fast on a deserted street is dangerous to others?   Even if they don't exist?

That makes no sense.   They're not there.
The only way to guarantee that the road is deserted is to close it.  In the case of a legally closed road, speeding isn't illegal.  Otherwise, you can't stop someone else from driving on to your "deserted" road and being in danger because of your speeding.
You know this is retarded so I'm not really going to bother.

Driving 110 on a deserted road is less dangerous to others than a severly obese man eating Big Macs in a crowded McD's.   He could stroke out and fall on a child.
Going back to this, if speeding isn't illegal because it is dangerous, why do you think it is illegal?

Good lord.  You are an obtuse fellow, aren't you?

Of course driving 110 MPH is dangerous.   It's a lot less dangerous on a deserted street.
Of course incest is bad.   It's a lot less bad when there is no sibling/parental manipulation and no chance of birth defects(due to sterilization).

However, regardless of the special circumstance, both are still illegal.   As is SSM.

Laws are made and enforced.   That's really all there is to it.

We aren't arguing about whether or not Law A is or isn't actually on the books.

We are arguing whether Law A should or shouldn't be on the books.

In some states SSM isn't allowed.  In others, it is allowed.  The whole point of this is should it be allowed.  A subject which you, apparently, have no opinion on.

I know what I'm arguing about, I'm not sure you do.

However, I also know what your problem is.  You desperately want someone, anyone, who disagrees with you to say you're right.   If you think that's going to be me, you're wrong.  I don't think anyone has the "right" to get married.  If you did, you can walk up to anyone and say "We're getting married."    There are guidelines.  One of them is that both people have to consent.  Another one is that one has to have a ***** and one has to have a vagina.   Another is you cannot be relatives.   Another is that you cannot be married to someone else.   So, if you want to be married, you must meet at least 4 guidelines:
1.  Find a consenting adult to marry.
2.  Make sure consenting adult of of the opposite sex.
3.  Make sure consenting adult is not a relative.
4.  Don't have a current spouse.

Gay couples fail to meet at least one of those guidelines.   Can you guess which one?

So you'd be ok eliminating rule #2?

Not my cause.  Don't care.

Pretty sure I'd have an issue if a rash of 52 year old men started marrying their 9 y/o granddaughters but, until then, it's not my concern.

So then this:
In some states SSM isn't allowed.  In others, it is allowed.  The whole point of this is should it be allowed.  A subject which you, apparently, have no opinion on.

is right.

I have an opinion.  It's "don't care."

You're a funny, in a WTF? way, guy.

Please answer this.
You're in a bar watching a game.   It's an exciting game.  You're really into it.    Dude walks in, sits next to you and orders a beer.  You start telling him about the game you're watching.  Dude says "Don't care.  I don't like baseball."   Do you continue to tell him about the wonderful game you're watching?
5/17/2012 5:02 PM
I'll answer for you.

Of course you don't.  YOU give him the full history of baseball and explain to him why he should care.

Or he punches you in the face for being annoying.

If I kept talking and he stuck around for...40 (?!?!) pages and continued the discussion, I'd guess that he really did have an opinion beyond "I don't care."

Not sure if you've noticed but I post a lot.
5/17/2012 5:11 PM
I noticed.  But there are literally hundreds of threads available right now.  If you don't care, why waste so much time on this one?

I will if you agree to answer one question from me.

After I respond to you, I will ask you a question titled "Question for Tec."  It will be yes or no.  Do you agree to answer that question?
Sure.  Fire away.
