In 886 seasons of baseball, I have never been in 1st place in all my leagues when I was playing at least 5 different leagues. Today's AM cycle not only put me into first place in all 5 of my leagues, but all 5 games were victories! These are the first 5 leagues that I've played after taking 3-4 years off. They aren't great teams, but they are certainly giving me a little excitement!

spotted a 17-5 lead in the 6th inning of Game 6 of the WS, mop up scrub Ed Palmquist gets a quick double play and then proceeds to give up 16 runs over the next three innings, while closing out a 26-21 victory for maybe the weirdest official SAVE ever: 3.1 ip, 16 h, 16 er

You're playing with fire if you're in the World Series and don't have "Use Mopup Only When Losing" checked off!

You know how in real life a struggling player is traded mid-season and immediately catches fire with his new team? You wouldn't think that would apply to simmed baseball, but check out these before and after stats for a batter and pitcher I acquired in my 1952 prog:

Jerry Priddy
111 PA, .198/.333/.264/.597
158 PA, .373/.468/.604/1.072

Joe Black
62.1 IP, 8.37 ERA, 1.81 WHIP, .322 OAV
68.1 IP, 2.63 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, .230 OAV

We're into the playoffs now of the first Champ's League to get off the ground at WIS since 2012. One team broke the all time record for wins in a CL with 113, taking their division by a whopping 31 games.

Can you guess what happened in the opening round?

Probably you can. They got swept, shut out twice in three games and outscored 22-3.

Just won an opening game in a 90M theme league courtesy of a pinch hit 3-run homer.

Batter was 1908 Buck Herzog. Real life: 0 HR in 225 PA.

Pitcher was 1906 Three Finger Brown. Real life: 1 HR allowed in 296 IP.

Park was Polo Grounds (IV): -1/-1 for HR.

More HR shenanigans from an opening game, this time in a Champ's League. The setup for this particular HR:

Batter was 2020 Jake Lamb (partial season with Arizona). Real life: 0 HR in 50 PA, prorated to 0 HR in 135 PA.

Pitcher was 1905 Frank Owen. Real life: 6 HR allowed in 356 IP.

Park was the Astrodome: -4/-4 for HR.

And oh yeah, Lamb's HR was the only hit allowed by Owen, who threw a complete game 1-hitter.

In Got_Worms' Astrology Zone league, where your whole team must be made up of one Zodiac sign (mine is Cancer - my team is Moonchildren of the Tao),

we just won our last two games by a combined score of 71-5, but against two different opposing teams.

It's a progressive league and the first season of the league was players from 1977, so everyone in the league refers to it by "1977" in some way or another. We are currently in the 2003 season. For some more context, Guillen did this playing on the road at Wrigley.

My current Champ's League team is using 2020 starting pitchers, and over the first 64 games they've been pretty good (IP, ERA, W-L):

Shane Bieber, 111, 2.03, 7-6
Trevor Bauer, 92.1, 3.02, 7-4
Kenta Maeda, 88.2, 1.83, 7-0
Dinelson Lamet, 86.2, 3.12, 7-3
Zach Plesac, 54.1, 1.49, 2-5
Tony Gonsolin, 28.1, 1.59, 1-3

In the AM cycle just completed, they managed to do something a team of mine has never done here, throw their 5th consecutive shutout:

11/2 pm2

at Petco Conquistadors

11/3 am at Petco Conquistadors 5-0 w

In RF, D+, .966 FPCT Junior Felix:

S.Fasano draws the walk.
J.Felix botches a routine flyball and T.Goodwin reaches on the error.
J.Felix botches a routine flyball and W.Joyner reaches on the error.
J.Felix can't handle a flyball and K.McReynolds reaches on the error. S.Fasano scores.

The real Junior Felix made 9 errors that season, in 253 chances. Here he makes three in a row...ouch. Not to mention this is a 1990s league with no old time hitters or pitchers with higher error rates.

I know it’s a mop-up game, but still. Christy Mathewson hits THREE! homeruns in ONE inning.

In G2 of the (90M cap) division series playoff for round 2 of the WISC, my team made FIVE errors in the top of the 4th inning (including four outfield errors). Admittedly, they are not the best fielding bunch (152 errors during the regular season), but this was shocking. Led to six unearned runs (on only one hit), and was too much for us to overcome in a 6-3 loss.
