I don't know if it will make a difference, but two WISC owners have offered to use an alias account to enter teams in the leagues we would need to fill. This would be done openly and they would not be in the same league as their "points-earning" teams. So that would get us closer to a faster start, if other owners don't step up.
I also have alternative versions of each of the 6 themes built that can be entered, if needed. It will be sad when they perform better than the teams I went with though…
What if both your teams advance?

Yeah, I voted to wipe them out, but I would very much like them to start accumulating again today if this person doesn't get them in soon.

I could have earned more points for myself if I had more time to build my teams. The points are not a zero-sum game.

I agree with schwarze regarding the penalty points. It shouldn't be a complete free pass. Also Red,this is not your fault. This is a huge thankless task and you've done a great job.

I think we would have to use just one or two of them to fill out leagues. But now we do in theory have 3 WISC owners willing to fill spots in leagues they are not currently in. The math does work.

But we are also waiting for the other owner and might get non-participants to step up on the other themes still, too. I'd certainly prefer we have different people fill the spots, should we need them.

I voted to wipe them, so please stop holding up 70 other owners and get your teams in.

The way I feel is the following:

For any penalty points accrued prior to final 6 team deadline, I'm ok with wiping them out IF it will get this tournament going and not doing so would significantly delay the tournament.

For any penalty points accrued after the final 6 team deadline, they MUST stand. Otherwise, there's no point to having a final deadline. So if he only has 4 teams ready to go, then he should get 2 penalty points today and 2 penalty points for every day he doesn't have all his teams in.
He says he has 4 teams he could enter today and would aim for the rest by Thursday morning.

The vote on points might impact how this plays out still, though. I didn't have a separate choice for reduced or modified points in the poll. I suppose I could do a second poll if need be.

At this point, we're hamstrung, so whatever it takes to inconvenience the remaining owners the least.

It's quite frustrating though. The deadlines are clearly stated at sign up. I understand life causes delays sometimes, but to wait more than 6 weeks before entering a single team - with minimal communication - is just flat out disrespectful to everyone else here.

I can enter another team or two so we can get started (except the $70M team, I didn't like that theme)

I do have a 2nd $70M team that I can enter. It's all ready to go. I was waffling between that team and the one I ultimately entered.

As I'm clearly in the minority, I voted to keep the penalty in play. However, I'm in agreement with the several commentators calling for a "compromise" penalty of some points (specifically accumulating after today).

There absolutely should be some sort of penalty for missing a clearly stated deadline ... especially if he isn't getting them in until Thursday morning. As others have stated, what's the point in having a deadline ... and if this owner gets off penalty free this time ... how can you enforce any future deadlines?

Frankly, I'm assuming this guy already paid for his gift certificate. If he wants to pull his teams ... let him. I'd be willing to bet you could get another owner quickly if you offered them his gift certificate.

maybe instead of penalty points, reward coaches that enter all their teams on time...

How about other owners can enter individual teams granted:

1. They do not already have a team in that league.
2. The team entered does not accumulate points for the win formula.
3. It increases their prize money (by some formula) at the end of the tournament.

I bet other players had a "B" team that didn't enter but would like to see how that team would have fared in the tourney. Fastest way to get this off the ground while staying true to the penalty system.

Ha! That wouldn’t happen though I appreciate the confidence :) Anyway, I didn’t mean I’d enter the full 6 other teams, just that I could fill in spots quickly where leagues had an opening.

Whoever this is has lost all credibility. He was supposed to have 6 teams in by yesterday. Why would we think he would have all 6 in by Thursday? And then if he misses that deadline...then what? Also, someone who won't enter their teams unless the penalty points are erased is a prima donna and should be banned from WISC in the future.

how about a reduced amount of penalty points so that they still have the chance to make round 2 but also are assessed a justified penalty. I agree with drock that the penalty amounts are excessive and it's a deterrent to that owners' enjoyment if they have no shot.
agree with this completely.
