I think the problem with arguing that a strikeout is the same as every other out, and why a lot of people have a problem with it, is that it may come across as if there's no difference between these 2 TVs:
1) Strikeout
2) Ball in play
Strikeouts are bad. It gives you next to no chance of getting on base. Hit the ball.
I said this earlier because this is what people think when someone says "an out is an out." We're arguing about OUTS and how productive they are or aren't when they're in play.
Nah, I started arguing something else when you were busting tec's balls about BABIP. Don't tell me I can't because, truth be told, this thread started about PED.
If I have my choice between a swing and a miss or contact, I take contact. And all the "potential disasters" that come with it. Can't live your life in fear of bad things happening, eeyore.
