We both have sucky 2nd round match-ups.

yup. that about sums it up. GL tonight.

I'm not too fond of my 2nd round matchup either...
2/4/2008 4:21 PM
i can see why...

Taz beat my La Grange team in Crum the other night - pretty bad beat down at that. Hopefully I will be able to avenge my loss.

Hopefully I have enough achievements to get Manchester back on the Dynasty list after a 1 year hiatus.
Note to self: Schedule a little lighter during even numbered seasons.

My schedule for next year is actually weaker than it has been, which is good considering I'm graduating 6 seniors and only have 1 junior...

you should be back at least into the others receiving votes category.

Would someone explain how I lost?
2/5/2008 1:57 AM
Because I'm not seeing it...I outrebounded him by 20, similar in all other categories except FG %...most of which was from my SF and SG, the 2 best scorers in my school's HISTORY. They combined to go 0-8 from behind the arc, and my starting SF could only manage 3/14 against a freshman SG with a 20 in D? Riiiiiiight. I hate HD. I'm seriously tempted to quit.

Did you happen to see what defense that team was playing?
hint: its the press.
That is unlucky though

I lost to Taz for the 2nd time in 3 days :(
My W CT St team has always put up good numbers during the regular season, but come up short in the post-season.
2/5/2008 5:53 AM
that was a tough one, breum, especially considering the way it read...
bugs, you should know by now you never want to see taz in the tourney.

Thanks, after reviewing the first box score from our first matchup and adjusting my setup a bit, as well as the improvement in my SG from season's start, I actually liked my chances last night. Wasn't sure I could pull it out, but I thought I stood a better than 30% chance which is more than I gave myself when I initially looked at our bracket. The one thing I didn't like, and continue not to like about my team is Bailey's **** poor performance in the class room that came unexpectantly this semester. I have absolutely no proven threat off the bench in the post, and it almost caught up with me last night w/ both starting big men in foul trouble.
gg though bugs, your teams are always tough. I think playing in the upstate w/ this squad really helps me in the NT. W/ the recent coaching additions to Rochester, CWR & Washington to go along w/ the teams at NYU & Brandeis plus all the teams in the other division we get tested most every night out. Sure I've gotten my head beaten in more than a few times this season, but I think it forces me to constantly tweak my settings/lineup until I figure out the best way to run my team. We usually play our best ball at season's end thanks to the consistant challenges we face. Never a chance to rest on our laurels.
When I think back to my days at Ferrum in Crum w/ Bugs and others, I'd usually run rough shod over my half of the division w/ a tough matchup w/ Bugs team plus another team or 2 in the other half of that D3 conference. While I was usually able to recruit well and had some of the more talented teams in D3 crum, I was never able to consistant put together season ending runs like I've done at Chicago recently. I think playing in this conference has made all the difference.
anyhoo, good luck to everyone else the rest of the way in the tournament. How many of D3 dynasties from wronoj's list still remain? Seems like there were a lot of familar faces/teams still in the hunt yesterday when I glanced thru each bracket. My bracket looked particularly brutal, but then so did the others. I'm not sure there is an "easy" path to the final 4 out there.

Sweet 16 has the following dynasty teams:
South
5 Lycoming v. 21 La Roche
7 Hartwick
West
11 E. Oregon
42 Manhattanville
East
3 Chicago
4 Arcadia v. (new entrant this coming season) Oberlin
Midwest
17 NCWC v. 20 Brandeis
36 Mt Ida
so, 10 teams from last season's list and one new addition. Several others who look likely to join next season (CWRU, Neumann...). Lots of room for these teams to move up and around the list.

7 sweet 16s in the last 8 seasons...happy with that but i would really really really like to get over the hump tonight...haven't been back in the elite 8 in quite some time...

but all things considered i am very happy with the salvage job for this season...i was really close to not making it after losing my final 2 reg season games...
