dannino,

I don't see why not. I have had to utilize exactly some of the ballparks that team moved to in the 1950s in order to create a somewhat believable scenario of 12 teams per league, so for example the Brooklyn team can't go to the park in LA they originally played in, unless that stadium is not taken in the meantime. So yes, teams can remain in parks after their historical expiration date, AND (new ruling, ahem) they can also move to different cities or parks than those that the same franchise moved to historically.

So the AL Philadelphia team for example, could move eventually to Dallas/Arlington if that park is not yet taken (it is available already however) or to Toronto, Seattle etc. It's called What if Sports after all.

Looking over the players from 1946, it struck me that this was a Golden Age of Shortstops especially in the American League - 6 or 7 really first rate ones, and I think until the conjuncture of Jeter, Nomar, A-Rod and Tejada I doubt there was a similar level of talent at that position in one league.

Should be a great draft.

Update: We are up to 15 already and need only 9 more to begin. At least 15 if ooooohdoggie meant to say he was joining - ooooohdoggie are you in, or did you just bump us cause you are a cool person( which you are) ? Anyway 15 with ooooohdoggie.

I have all the available players from both MLB leagues, plus all the available secondary players and parks up, so once we get 9 more people we can actually start drafting!

When we do start, I would like to take advantage of chargingryno's offer to temporarily use his remaining prog thread which he can give all of us access to, and I can also re-post all the available player and park lists in one place for easier reference there. So if no one has any objection, and if charginingryno's kind offer stands, it worked very well for us when we had the founding draft for the Roll the Dice league, so we will go ahead and use it, and then once we have a league number I will start our own league forum.

wow - you've really given this alot of thought!

I'd be interested in joining this league.
5/14/2013 1:45 PM
I think you're going to fill this league from scratch in record time!
5/14/2013 2:00 PM
I'll give it a go professor.

Welcome ljemd and redsfive - we are up to 18, missing just 6 to already start drafting. Incredible !

I think there was some pressure building for people to start a new prog, as many of us had joined, but as usual taking over teams in leagues already running for years, often teams that needed rebuilding etc. anyway will_prosper I think that explains a lot of it.

How quickly will we start the draft after the league is filled up?  I was hoping for a weekend at least to do some prep work.
