Ya, I saw the sim trial, but I also remember the dted player dropped by 4 ppg or something like that. That team also featured 2 big scorers, clyde and barkley i believe; it also ran a double dt. Lastly, that was under the old engine w/o the defensive shifts. These are alot of differences (plus missing factors) between what most teams face in the wilt matchups.

Why don't you ran another round of sim trials with the following setup: 2 leagues. Both league have 3 teams with the following PF and C slot, Russel + Russell v. Russel + 50ppg Wilt; wilt team have no other major scorer or 1 big perimeter scorer (up to you)

Have one league dt and -3 shift to wilt, other one do not. I can guarantee you Wilt in the -3 shift + dt will do significantly worse.

it would be an interesting thing to test again - and while they didnt change anything to do with double teaming with the last release per se they did claim to have changed the FTA/PF logic some which might have an impact

on the other hand as you mentioned there were 2 big scorers on those teams so with shared distro you would expect a drop in ppg from irl for them - if memory serves however there was no significant variation of ppg or efficiency or TOs for dt'd vs dt'd same players in that test (ed. not the case as you can see ncmusician's link below)

Im forgetting who ran it but if they are around maybe they can pipe up and share their thoughts

thanks ncmusician_7

so to be clear the results were that doubling does indeed have an impact but all else equal it seems to put you at a disadvantage (or did prior to the last release) as your opponent's non doubled players will increase their performance

plus there was that wierdness wherein nondoubling teams actually appeared to have superior steals and blocks

and the net-net take away is that if you double and your opponent doesnt you tend to lose

Also we are kept in the dark as to which players the SIM thinks were doubled IRL and thus are not really affected by DT, correct? This needs to be a search-able stat IMO.

May I ask what the bug was? Thanks

I have to jump in also and say replay the games should be saved for major, major errors - its gonna be bad either way, but to change the outcome of EVERY game played doesn't weigh in comparison to a percentage of coaches not having the full effect of their strategies be applied. Just my 2 cents, but replay's should be a VERY last resort.

It's based on Usage%, which is searchable.

Could you replay todays PM games? I lost but I really should've won, I swear, there must be a bug...

lofl...I think I have a RASH because of the recent quick decision that was made on August 4th, 2008 regarding the replay of NBA sim games...

so according to seble it's his fault, so he proceeds to make the problem worse by having a "do-over' ?? Excellent decision sir. Really, top notch. Cause that's what real leagues do when they make a mistake. They bring the teams back together and play it over. Brilliant decision making.

It was the only fair thing to do. Any of those wins was potentially invalid anyway since the losing coach may not have been able to set his game plan.
8/6/2008 10:37 PM
and the winning coach may not have been able to set his either.
8/7/2008 2:30 AM
Exactly...so it wasn't fair to anyone who couldn't set it up.
