When I think of the 60s, I think of Rock 'n Roll. And one thing I love about the History Of Rock is the legends.
Now I had three chicks in mind for this spot, but for historical impact and beauty, I think this is the most significant woman in the History Of Rock who never played a single note of music.
In the Golden Age of Rock 'n Roll, the late Sixties, the guitarist for the greatest band in the world married a model, and it was for her that he wrote one of the greatest love songs ever, "Something."
He became best friends with one of the best lead guitarists in the world, and they wrote amazing music together, including "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
The best friend - a man of legendary addictions and compulsions - fell in love with the wife, and it was for her that he wrote "Layla", probably the most scorching "love in vain" rock song of all time.
Years later, after the marriage dissolved, the writer of "Layla" indeed married this woman, and it was for her that he wrote "Wonderful Tonight."
This is what all the fuss was about - my
60s Chick,
Patti Boyd.
