Sometimes its not the SIM Topic

Why is the solution always, "play til they fix it"?
8/11/2010 4:28 PM
some people don't want to see the sim fixed, though.  They say they do, but really they want to see wis crash & burn.  I am not one of these people.  I want to see the sim fixed and more attention payed to loyal, paying customers.

I would honestly like to see it fixed/updated.  I've griped too much about this game over the years, but it's only because I've always wanted the product to be the best that it could be, and unfortunately, hating on the sim almost seems like the only fun thing to do with it nowadays.  The NBA sim is how/why I fell in love with WIS in the first place...I hope they get the 09-10 rosters out soon and that they do improve the game...it's really a shame that it isn't done now.  Closing this game would be a punch to the gut.

I think you have unintentionally fed the "beast".  I do agree with one of your points, in that new users or potential users could easily be put off by the constant and ineffective rants in the forums.  All of the issues with the sim, seble, tickets, etc. are telling about the overall dedication that WIS has to Simleague basketball. However the product itself is still the best out there, and therefore it is still worth playing for some.  The forums have been like deja vu ever since I started playing in this site.

It would be a shame if potential users did not give it a try and judge for themselves whether or not they like the sim.  Ultimately, if the forums were for theme leagues, discussions, etc and the negativity were not present, I believe that there would be more users. But I guess in the end a forum is a forum.

Redman I knew I was going to get blasted a little.  And being still relatively new I don't have the long history of being disappointed by WIS (but 09-10 not being out by now is still pretty bad).  But this is still a good SIM like you said and want it to prosper.

that's pretty thin skin you're wearing - I dont think anyone called you names or denigrated you - I wouldnt characterize simple disagreement with your thesis as "blasting" you, I'd call it disagreeing with you

I took umbrage with elebowitz's statement because people aren't ******** because they're losing, they're ******** because the game needs improvement/help.  Losing/getting screwed is a by-product of a flawed/lacking engine, and that's really the heart of the matter here...that's why I posted.

I love the constant and ineffective rants comment.  There aren't enough posters in this particular section of the forum to even approach that.  Truth of the matter is that redman likes to ***** and moan about 3 or 4 people speaking their minds occasionally.

Well, you can't disagree that they are ineffective

we are stuck between a rock and a hard place - addicted to what is 'nearly' a great thing and yet abused by inattention and indifference - our only really effective act would be to walk away but I just cant kick the demon, I cant get the monkee off my back! (and you cant either)

the truth is we should all walk away but if we are going to stay

while it is somewhat satisfying to pitch a ***** occasionally

is it against our own interests?

Im not sure - this stuff isnt ok - not releasing the 09-10 players is not ok. banning long time paying customers who have contributed to the game in deep and signifcant ways simply because you have a personal beef is not ok (ahem) the D ratings issue is not ok - PE is not ok - randomness is not ok

and they/he really doesnt seem to care does he? not ok

but...? I dont know I'm going to go check on my teams' morning results

I'll agree to that.  Not saying anything isn't getting anything changed, either.

So...we filled up how many leagues with anticipation of the 9-10 players and what happened?  No players.  Disappointed new owners.  Bad service, bad product, lack of interest from WIS/FOX.   A few gripes on the forums aren't turning anyone away-WIS/FOX total lack of care for their product is.

I played a couple seasons before I even visited the forums and all the fellow owners did was increase my interest in the game.  First I tried to prove them wrong, then I actually started paying attention to why they said what they did.  I'm still here playing, but I would invest more into a product that was better.   There is no excuse for not having the new players out.  That is a slap in the face to us that have supported them.  New players show up looking for the 09-10 and ...nothing?

Now if you don't mind, I have to go tie off ...

He's spot on though.  How many NBA sim users are really reading these boards and not posting due to all the "negativity"?  None?  If anything, we're doing non-users/players a favor by suggesting that they not waste $10 on a product that isn't worth the cost in its current state.  Again, ash and I didn't do this...WIS did.  We're reacting to what WIS has(n't) done and it comes out the way it does because it's extremely frustrating that WIS no longer seems to give 1 damn about this game.  In the end, they just tend to use the chicken v. egg argument...the NBA sim doesn't have enough users, thus it doesn't deserve the programming time, but conversely, the NBA sim doesn't have enough users BECAUSE it hasn't gotten the programming time and/or SIMPLE (player) updates.  You have to invest in your product if you want people to invest in your product...and that seems to just have gone to the wayside.

It's unfortunate that a multi-million/billion dollar company in FOX just doesn't care about this thing, but in all fairness, I think TK effed it up to begin with by over-gaming and under-staffing...I said all along that they had too many games and not enough programmers and I'll be damned if I wasn't right.

dont you think it's a little obnoxious to always be congratulating yourself on stuff?
8/13/2010 8:46 PM
I've said all along that congratulating yourself in a post is a bit annoying, and I'll be damned if I wasn't right about that.
