Just keep an active chalenge out there. He posted just a few days ago so he's around. I don't think colin checks into that account every day.

And the same for EJP in reverse...Swamp City will send one out eventually so just check in every day or two.

For the 2nd Cup in a row, VB Hibernian and EJP have claimed the Bronze as they win consecutive 3rd Place games, this one over Swamp City Dragons by a score of 2-1, who ended a great run of their own but fell seconds short of getting themselves added to the podium. Both teams notched a goal in the first half as Adalgiso Kluge and Godfredo Pinola traded scores to send the contest into halftime tied at 1-1. Since the 3rd Place game is a single game rather than a series, a tie would have resulted in both squads being awarded the medal and, after Dragons midfielder Tre Ackworth picked up his 2nd yellow in the 74th, Swamp City switched over to pure defense to try and run out the string now being a man down. From the 80th to the end, Hibs held the ball and took shot after shot but couldn't get another one past Dragons goalie Huenu Palomino until a final ditch strike by Pinola in the 90th was mishandled by Palomino and leaked across the goal line moments before the referee blew the whistle for full time.

The Championship starts tomorrow.

Sorry for the late update. Today is my 23rd wedding Anniversary and I had to do some stuff. But, now that that is over, we can get to more important subjects.

The Championship Round of FC Dynasty Cup XVI got underway today in sunny South America. The defending Champions Club de FĂștbol Deportivo Cotopaxi is on the brink of making history as they hosted Merchiston FC in Quito, Ecuador. Never before have we had a back-to-back Champion but records are made to be broken. Cotopaxi opened the finals with a goal in the 12th minute off the foot of JosĂ© ValdĂ©s, one of his two tallies of the game, and they never were seriously threatened on the scoreboard. The 1-0 score held through halftime but the floodgates opened right after the break. Weyland Watkins scored his 11th or the tourney and sits in solo 2nd place in the Golden Toe with one game remaining and ValdĂ©s knocked in another as Cotopaxi built up a 4-0 lead which was more than enough to take the first leg. Merchiston was able to get on the board when 64 year old Dutch superstar Thomas-VanLuijk De Meyer beat Cotopaxi goalie Rose Luyten but the 4-1 win for the Champs will be a tough hill for the Scottish club to climb...yet that is their task as the return game is tomorrow.

See you tomorrow to potentially crown a new Champion.

The Championship Round has concluded and it is clear that the FC Dynasty world has a true dynasty within it. Club de FĂștbol Deportivo Cotopaxi won its 2nd straight Cup after taking a 4-1 lead into this morning's game and, not being intimidated by the noise of the Scottish home crowd, defeated Merchiston FC in the sweep as they take the return game 3-1 to secure back-to-back Championships with a 7-2 aggregate. In Cup XV, it was Cotopaxi who denied the crutchanators of soccer's bid to repeat and now they do the feat themselves.

Merchiston got off on the right foot when they won a 1st minute corner kick. Bartleah Clavell lined up the cross and placed a beautiful pass right on the spot Carlin Kiley was camping out in and, after a few moves to control the ball, hit a liner that Rose Luyten couldn't touch as the aggregate was closed to 4-2. Unfortunately for Merchiston, that was high watermark on their comeback. From that point, Cotopaxi slowly established control and then smothered their opponent as the shots on goal would end up to be 19-5 in their favor.

The end began in the 26th when Gabe De Bruyn hit a shot that deflected off a defender's leg and past a stranded Jean-Martin Swerts, who was obviously leaning in the opposite direction to increase the series lead to 5-2. Tilbrand Verstraete then netted one right before halftime as his shot clipped the crossbar and into the goal and halftime came with Cotopaxi ragaining the game lead at 2-1 and the series at 6-2. Any hopes the underdogs had after halftime adjustments went out the window after Math Boyes, who was sitting on a yellow card after a silly tackle in the 10th, was booted from the game in the 53rd, making Merchiston's position unteneable. Cotopaxi essentially held the ball for the final 35 minutes of game play and, with the Championship effectively secured, started working the pitch to set up their team Captain, Weyland Watkins, to get one more goal so that he could grab a share of the Golden Toe.

With time running out, Cotopaxi earned a corner kick in the 89th minute and José Valdés, seeing the Merchiston defense was not properly set, took a quick corner to take advantage. As the ball came into the box, the defenders started finding their marks, creating a traffic jam in the middle. Watkins shot was not seen by Swerts through the forest of bodies in front of him and the ball rolled into the back of the net...causing the entire Cotopaxi team to jump on Watkins in celebration. That ended the Championship series and the Ecuadorians started to carry Watkins around the field on their shoulders but, in a show of sportsmanship, came back to shake the hands of the dejected Merchiston players right before the awards ceremony.

Club de FĂștbol Deportivo Cotopaxi and indiansrck27 out of World 82 have have shown the heart of a Champion by taking the FC Dynasty Cup XVI title and makes history as the first team to successfully defend their title. Merchiston FC and colinhtucker out of World 90 played as well as they could but there was no stopping the juggernaut and will have to settle for the Runner-up spot. The L'Orteil D'or award was shared by Jerrad Forko and Weiland Watkins, who becomes the first individual goal scorer to successfully defend his top scorer title, both netting 12 goals. Now, without further ado, the hardware will now be distributed to their rightful owners.

Champion - Club de FĂștbol Deportivo Cotopaxi - (indiansrck27)

..... ...........Runner-up - Merchiston FC - (colinhtucker)
.
L'Orteil D'or - Weyland Watkins (Club de FĂștbol Deportivo Cotopaxi) and Jerrad Forko (SwampDragons United)

This will be the final FC Dynasty Cup XVI post, officially ending the tournament. Feel free to continue posting tournament comments here on this thread or sitemail me with comments that I can post on your behalf.

There was no stopping the glorious dynasty that is our Champion - Club de FĂștbol Deportivo Cotopaxi and indiansrck27 for winning their 3nd Cup in four tournaments and the first back-to-back winners in Cup history. Unless everyone is satisfied with playing for the Runner-Up spot, it's time to reload and gun for the South American club that is clearly the Überteam.

Also, congrats to Merchiston FC and colinhtucker, who proved to be the best of us mere mortals, on taking the Runner Up honors.

I hope everyone enjoyed the tournament and the competition. With 32 teams from 13 participating worlds, the Cup once again went smoothly thanks to all of you. Thank you very much for all of the kind comments and encouragement. I really do appreciate it.

Based on the way the calendar looks, the sign-up phase for FC Dynasty Cup XVII will be after the US Memorial Day weekend, which is traditionally the busiest travel week of the year - so late May will be the signup phase and action starting in early to mid June. In the meantime, enjoy your individual worlds and please pass the word to fellow FC Dynasty coaches.

Gentlemen, until next time, when a new set of teams spanning the FC Dynasty universe will get together to contest for the ultimate prize - the FC Dynasty Cup!

Signing out.

Jay
