Welcome to the 1909 season!!
The 1909 Champion was 1909 Twisted Senators (kstober) defeating the Cincinnati Reds (ledfoot) 4 games to 2
The 1909 Awards are as follows:
- AL Team with the biggest win percentage increase: Washington Senators (kstober)
- NL Team with the biggest win percentage increase: Boston Doves (tgrun)
Both owners will get 1 extra twist with their selection for the 1910 season if they choose to join.
THE RULES: There will be 16 teams and, once full, each participant will be given a selection order using a lottery format, based on the previous season's final standings, in which to pick one franchise from the
1908 season. A video link revealing the draft order will be sent out after the league is filled. Based on the winning percentage of that team, that year (according to baseball-reference.com), you will be able to twist anywhere from 1 to 8 players (or more) based on the chart below.
.775 - .700 – twist 1 player
.699 - .625 – twist 2 players
.624 - .550 – twist 3 players
.549 - .500 – twist 4 players
.499 - .450 – twist 5 players
.449 - .400 – twist 6 players
.399 - .350 – twist 7 players
.349 - .300 - twist 8 Players
>.300 - Unlimited Player Twists
For Example: the 1909 Pirates (.724) would get 1 twist, but the 1909 Nationals (.276) would get unlimited twists for that season.
- The team owners (1 NL, 1 AL) with the biggest win percentage increase over the IRL franchise, will get 1 extra twist the following season. If that owner decides to not rejoin for the following season, the award will go to the next in line, and so on.
- The players can be twisted with any other year they were in the league regardless of the team they were on.
- For best results: load your team from the Historical Team section in the draft center.
- You CAN twist players that are not uploaded on the historical roster on WIS as long as they are on the roster in Baseballreference.com.
- If there is a shortage of players on your roster, you may select a player from that franchise’s previous 3 seasons before the current WIS season.
- For teams with a IRL win percentage of .450 or better, these players must have a max AB of 400, or a WHIP of 1.30 or higher
- (NEW RULE) For teams IRL with a sub .450 win percentage, there are no stat restrictions on filler players.
- These players cannot be twisted
No Clones / No DH Until 1973 / No AAA / No injuries
League will be set up with the 1904-1960 Format Until the 1961 season. Which means: 2 Divisions of 8 teams, top two teams make the playoffs. 154 games. The idea is that this league will evolve like the MLB did over the years.
As the years go on, team selections will grow, and this league will expand to 24 teams in the 1969 season, and upwards to 30 teams in the 1998 season. So, if you’re up for an evolving multi-season league, this should be a great spot.
The league salary cap will be set at $115mm. Ballpark will be the park of the team you picked for that year.
***I’m not going to lie; you will have seasons that really suck and other seasons you will be right in the thick of it. It’s all the luck of the draw, but not necessarily meaning the draft order. ***
